Default 2010 450h or 2011 450h??

Hello everyone, first time poster, long time lurker here!

I finally narrowed down my searches for 2 potential rx 450h

1) 2010 rx 450h approx 42500miles silver/black. CPO
comfort package
premium package
accessory package and NAV
Michelin tires
brakes/ tires are all 8/32"--
new mats

price is $32888

2) option 2 is a 2011 rx 450h 41k miles black/black. CPO

comfort package
accessory package
premium package and NAV
new tires (unknown brand)

brakes 7/32"

price is $35785

Ok now my dilemma is which one should i chose?

Is the almost 6k premium worth it for half the miles and 1 yr younger?

Is the price of the 2010 good? how about the price of 2011?

Also the 2010 has been SITTING IN THE DEALERS LOT since 8/21/13. Is that a bad thing for the hybrid sytem/batteries (to not be used for an extended period)?

Which one would you pick and why?

Thanks alot! I need advice so i can pick up one of these beauties by SATURDAY!!!

EDIT: 2011 changed however new 2011 rx 450h presented itself!; EDIT 2 price change

I won't help too much, but I think both are a similar "deal", even though they are $6000 apart. I'm thinking the mileage on the 2011 probably makes up a chunk of that difference. The 2011 is a 3 year old car and only has 21k on it (7k miles per year). The 2010 is a 4 year old car with 42.5k on it (10.6k per year). Are these MSRP or the negotiated prices?. It may very well come down to if you personally think it's worth another 6 grand out of your pocket. I'm not sure the differences between the 2 model years so you'll have to take that into account as well. One thing I would suggest is if you go with 2011, have them change the tires out as part of the deal - that is of course if these are at the same dealer. (Michelins will ride way better than the Dunlop tires).

Don't worry - others will chime in soon. This site is an excellent source for information on just about every topic.

Take a look at both, which shows more wear. I would go with the 2011. Half the miles is a big difference on wear. Plus it is a year younger. You will be able to recoup part of the price difference when the time comes to sell this vehicle.

I agree with both Mors and Vlad. I would spend the extra $5512 to get the lower miles and 1 year newer car. I also agree that having them swap the tires would be smart. The Michelins give a noticeably smoother and quieter ride.

OK thanks for the advice

I was originally leaning towards the cheaper 450h based on price, (to be honest i already left a deposit, very sure that i can transfer it to the other car) however how can i "convince" the dealer to swap tires? they already dropped the 2011 from $39,990 to $38,400.

Also i'm planning to keep this car for as long as i can (past 7 yrs if it is stays trouble free) does that sway in the decision process? (i'm not going to trade in the car, for a new version etc....)

thanks alot

EDIT: also no one has really addressed it but since the 2010 has been sitting in the dealer's lot for about 4 month, does that negatively impact the hybrid system and/or the battery?

OK i got a call from the dealer saying the 450h 2011 has been sold.

However another dealer contacted me about 450h 2011 with 40k miles for $35785 new set of tires (dont know brand and 8/32 on brakes).

same options as listed above.

So is the extra 3k it?

If you're keeping it till the wheels fall off go for the 2010. By that time when you get rid of the car the 2011 will net you probably $500 or $1K difference at the most. Not worth paying 5K+tax in extras IMO.
