Glove Compartment Partition Removal
Hello Everyone,
Any hints on removing the partition from the glove box so I can look at the cabin air filter? The owner's manual says to lift up on the left end, then pull to the left, as I recall, but can't do either.
Don't want to break it, just remove and replace after checking the cabin air filter. 2011 RX350

No, I don't play soccer!
First, make sure your RX is in recirculate mode. Otherwise you won't be able to remove the cabin filter. Push the entire panel up to free the bottom tabs, then put your fingers underneath the right side and pull towards you. When you replace it, insert the left (short) side first. Once it's in place, push the panel down. Your cabin filter has most likely been changed before so it's loosened up.

The directions in the manual do work, but when I tried it, it took a constant pressure to accomplish the task. I used both hands to ensure I didn't inadvertently twist or break something. It does not come out easily (I suspect because if it was not in firmly enough, we'd have other people complaining about it rattling.). Good luck!

I did everything you said, and it worked. Like you said, there's a new filter in there because it was purchased as a CPO car.

2010 RX 350 - I was able to remove the partition but I could not remove the plastic cover (the vertical one). Could you help me with some instructions? I followed the instructions in the manual but it wouldn't budge. I am afraid of breaking it if I applied too much force!

Then there's a second, white cover with a clip on both ends that must be removed to gain access to the filter. Replace the white cover once the filter has been changed.
To re-install the black outer cover, push the cover back in, and then apply a bit of downward pressure with your fingertips to latch it in place.
My black cover was tight, but came out without difficulty. Took maybe 4 minutes to change the filter.

I have no idea what downward pressure is needed to reinstall the filter. I have no idea why the system has to be in recirculating mode, since you're supposed to do it when the engine is off, all system off. Took me less than 5 mins to complete the entire task for the first time. Plenty of installation video can be found online.

Once the black cover/panel has been removed, the actual changing of the filter is simple & straight-forward, and yes, no need for re-circulate mode if the engine is off.
My previous post has been edited with (obviously) needed details added.
