I bought a new 2013 recently. Less than 450 miles and I have managed to get scratches on the 19" alloy wheels by parking too close to a curb. Please see attached picture.

Is there anyway to get rid of this without having to take it to a body shop and have the wheels dismounted, etc.?

I have one of mine scratched and my Lexus dealer said one of the people that come in can fix it like new! I just haven't been back on a Thursday when he is in
. They have 3 different vendors; one touches up paint, one removes dings and repairs wheels and another that specializes in interior/leather repair and matching!!

Depends on your skill level with a sander and filler, paint, etc.. For most people the answer is no and there has to be some type of vendor involved. But yes, it is very fixable

I got quoted $150 for each wheel with curb rash or any imperfections;they come to work or house..kind of high; will followup on the guy my dealer uses!!

Why don't you just DIY - kits are only $20 each and the damage you have is so light that it should be very easy.

I think we are both worried about matching that "superchrome" perfectly; it is not quite as simple as buffing out old headlights!!

I mixed BMW Jet Black with the BMW silver rim paint to touch up a ding on my Superchrome rim; not perfect, but you need to know the scratch was there to notice it. Definitely much better than how shiny the rim was when it got scratched.

That is not a scratch thats curb rash. Do you remember hitting a curb or something?

Which kit is the $20 kit you are referring to? Also, other than busurfer's suggestion of mixing BMW paints, is there any other recommended paint to use?

there are a lot of curb rash repairers that are mobile, so they come to your house and can fix it without taking the wheel off. Prices are around $100 per wheel

You can touch it up; I understand from a body shop that the wheel (inside) will have the Lexus part number and the paint code used. But in time you'll probably just forget that he wheel was curbed, even if you don't touch it up.

But if you want it like new, you'd need to have a wheel repair place fix it off the the car. If new material was need that would be welded onto the wheel, then shaped, trued and power coated. You'd have the wheel in back to new condition, and that's what you might really want on your new car. That's shoudl be the aim of any car repair - to put it in like new condition.

I'm in the process of getting my wheels redone, for about $650 for all four wheels. I was quoted about $2000 from the same place for just powder coating about four years ago! Prices have come down a lot it seems.

Maybe you'd want to change the color of your wheels if you decide to get all traces of the rash removed. The Prismatic Powders web site has a huge display of their colors.

I had the same Issue with my Certified PreOwned 2010 ES 350. After much aggravation with the Car Rims looking like Your Car, I went to a Lexus Dealer ( Purchased from) and the Service Manager had them Repair it for around $ 50.00. Let them Repair it...it looks like New again !
