2013 RX 350 Sat Radio

I wonder what the heck it is that they changed on the 2013 RX as far as the satellite reception compared to the 2010 RX??? The only interference I get with the satellite reception on my '10 RX is when I go into my garage at work, or just recently when I went up to the mountains for vacation. The vast tree coverage up there would interfere sometimes. But other than that, I get good reception in the '10 RX. I just wish the sound quality was better.

I live in the Sacramento Valley where mountains are far enough away to not create any kind of reception issue. I've had satellite radio for years and HD radio through Lincoln for the last couple of years. I moved to Lexus in August and have had constant 'ins and outs' with HD radio - mostly my local stations - since I got the car. I completed a Lexus survey yesterday and listed it as a serious problem. I think I'll call my Sales Rep, too, and ask what he's heard from Lexus or other customers about a problem with HD radio. The more we mention it, the more likely Lexus will do something about it. IMO, it's the Lexus radio/antenna system, not satellite radio/SiriusXM.

Our new (to us) 2010 RX receives XM radio as well as our 2008 ES350, our old 2008 GX470 and our old 2010 Honda Accord. If Lexus made changes to the XM receiver that worsens reception, I'm disappointed but not surprised. Car manufacturers are always looking for ways to cut costs, and Toyota/Lexus is no exception. If only $.05 per car can be saved by using a different, less expensive part, it's considered a major success by the bean counters.
All we can do is continue to loudly complain whenever this de-contenting or cost-cutting adversely affects us.
Given that we live in the proverbial "middle-of-nowhere" and have only ONE HD FM station and tons of country music, and NO ipods, iphones, or any other music storage devices (we do have CDs), XM is a necessity, not an option for us.

My 2014 RX seems to play XM perfectly. Haven't had a single dropout or loss of signal. That said, the pricing for XM is ridiculous. When you consider how little time most of us spend in the vehicle the cost per minute of programming is not a good value.
I just got a brochure from XM yesterday. I was thinking they would be offering me a discount deal to renew. The brochure wanted more for the service than their own website quotes. I know they will sell the service much cheaper if you argue/negotiate with them.
There are several times I would consider the service a good value. I take several cross-country trips every year and having a channel play my chosen genre, commercial free, mile after mile, state after state is nice.
XM kind of reminds me of satellite TV. The customer service agents have these deals but they don't offer them to existing customers unless it is to retain them. Then you find they have several deals and the first one is not their best offer. I dislike this policy immensely.
The signal and audio quality of XM has been very good in my RX and my contract expires Dec 30th. I will give them a chance to renew my contract and they can take it or leave it. I've read that you can negotiate a year of full XM for as little as $86.
On a cost per hour basis it is way overpriced, to the point where I don't see how they can stay viable for long.
Like others, I have gigs of music on my ipods and iphones that I can play as well as Pandora and iRadio which are pretty darn good so XM is facing some stiff competition.
