Independent review of RX450h sold by Lexus dealership?
I'm in the market for my first Lexus, a third gen/2010 RX 450h and have been shopping for used (2010/2011) models. Recently, I branched out from considering the available used CPO models at local Lexus dealerships to pre-owned without the CPO as my continued research has left me less convinced about the merits of CPO.
I've scheduled a visit to a local Lexus dealership offering a pre-owned 2010 RX450h, which they describe online as not being a CPO candidate because of an accident reported in 2011. The dealership claims that the vehicle went passed a comprehensive inspection and that while an accident report was filed, the vehicle did not incur any frame damage, did not require panel replacement, and did not deploy airbags.
Do yall recommend hiring an independent mechanic to review the pre-owned, non-CPO vehicle for sale by a Lexus dealership? And if so, can you suggest how I locate such a mechanic and tactically speaking, work such a review into the purchase negotiations?
Many thanks for an aspiring first-time Lexus owner and first-time poster here.

I wouldn't buy anything that isn't CPO. After all there are 2 kinds of CPO, Manufacturer CPO or Individual Dealer CPO. Yet, you pay for that CPO stuff the same as Extended warranty, but without it....just Walk away

Thanks all for feedback. Much appreciated and a bit surprised given other threads on CPO and extended warranties.
If I may, if the car is Lexus CPO, do you still recommend an independent mechanic to review before purchase? In theory, the CPO price bump represents such a review along with subsequent, free first service so the independent mechanic seems redundant. That said, I'd certainly prefer an independent review over a potentially biased dealership review.
Whitigir: while i'm familiar with manufacturer v. dealer CPO, in the months that I've been researching, i've yet to see a dealership make the distinction in a clear fashion. Any tips on what cues I'm looking for to tell which CPO a vehicle may be?
Thanks again.
