Default Getting my new RX 350 tomorrow

We signed the papers today and are getting the car* tomorrow. Here are some of the extra things the dealer presented for our consideration:

(1) Simoniz GlassCoat paint and interior protection

(2) Lo/Jack

(3) Simoniz PDR Plus ding/dent coverage and interior appearance coverage

(4) Tire and Wheel Coverage

I don't have the prices for each, but would really appreciate your advice on these options. Regarding item (1), I was thinking about XPEL Ultimate paint protection film but that is very expensive and, of course, is only for the exterior. Thanks to all!

* FWD, Claret with Light Parchment Leather
Comfort Package
Premium Package with BSM
Navigation Package
19" wheels
Intuitive Parking Assist
Towing Prep Package
Preferred Accessory Package

Congrats on your new RX.

In my opninion, I would not get any of those options from dealer. Dealer makes huge profit from those options.

Cheers,

When I bought my 2010 RX up there the Simoniz was expensive, but I don't remember how much. Don't do any of those things. You got the same specs as my 2013. You gonna really like it. Congratulations. I'm sending you a PM.

Agreed, signed the papers on my (wife's) new 350 AWD today and turned down all that stuff.

Glad to hear you ignored them.. sounds like a greedy dealer. I looked at a KIA Sorento where the ADP (Additional Dealer Profit) items included:

- Nitrogen in the tires $499
- Paintless dent removal for 2 years prepaid - $500

In your case..

The Simonize is some polymer wax, you can DIY for about $30 and a few hours of your time. Bet that was a $500 option.

Lo/Jack? You already have it with Lexus Assist - free for a year, stolen vehicle coverage. It costs about $160/year after the free year, but includes lots of other features.

Tire and wheel coverage? OMG - suppose you hit a pothole? That's the line they feed you. I pointed out to Mr. Money (the F&I guy who sells this crap) that I'd been driving for about 50 years and in that time have replaced exactly NO wheels, and one tire due to a road hazard. If I'd been paying insurance against that sort of loss, I'd be the loser.

Wow, I am amazed a Lexus dealer stoops to selling that crap; ours would not consider it! One of my pet peeves about Costco is their Nitrogen scam where they charge $20 to "change" your air to nitrogen and put ugly green caps on your wheels!!......
DON"T take any of that crap and tell them you are disapointed they even TRY to sell this; do they maybe sell other car lines there???

No, no other car lines. But they play hard ball. Just gave them 50K and couldn't even get free $80 mud flaps out of them! But can't dwell on that. Just got to move on and enjoy the car, right!
