Hi CL,

First post but long time follower. Just wanted to list an option for those intereseted. I did my research and decided to plus size my tires to increase ground clearance and ride quality (compared to old stock bridgestones). The tire is 245-65-18 yup oversized but not by much. I won't ever use chains so that's not an issue. Speedometer being off by a few miles per hour, I don't speed or use GPS so no issue there. Transmission, well I'll keep you informed. Pictures are still on my iPhone, upload later tonight.

Hi and welcome!

I too prefer larger tires. I'm actually running 255/55R18 as my snow set, which is the same overall diameter as stock.

Check your speedo. It is usually a couple miles too optimistic, so larger tires may make it more accurate.

Update:

I honestly feel as if the ride quality is night and day compared to the new tires. Only potholes and speed bumps are felt/heard through out the interior. Gone is the annoying road vibrations and seesaw feeling when cruising on the freeway. With these larger tires and psi is set to 32 the ride feels like my old Avalon. Cornering and handling is the same flat with little body-roll. The transmission shift points and smoothness are the same. The car use to kick down to 5th or 6th and then back up to 4th again when cruising between 35 - 40. Now it takes about a second or two longer to slide down to 5th with partial throttle.

Overall, I'm very very pleased with the ride quality... I can finally rest my head on the headrest without it smaking the back of my head

Update:

I took my tire pressure down from 32psi to 30psi. The interior doesn't vibrate or rattle as much. Parking lot speed bumps are much smoother.

dEV, does your RX have Nav? Looks like it has an option to calibrate the speedometer after a new tire install.

Dev, thanks for sharing your upgrade. I've been looking for someone who has the KL21's. Have you noticed any change in gas mileage? Did you have any problems balancing them? I'm a fan of Kumho since we're on our third set of them on our ES300.

I can't find that in my 2010 model, might be something unique to the 2013 models. But just in case, could you post the instructions? Sounds handy.

Might be a new feature on 2013 since they upgraded the Nav system from 2012.

1. Press the “MENU” button on the Remote Touch.
2. Select “Setup”.
3. Select “Navigation”.
4. Select “Detailed Navi. Settings”.
5. Select “Calibration”.
6. Select "Tire Change".
A message will show up for a few seconds:

The tire change calibration function will
be used when replacing the tires. This
function will adjust miscalculation
caused by the circumference difference
between the old and new tires

7. Done.

It doesn't really explain what it does. Does the speedometer get corrected or is it the Nav that becomes more accurate when relying on the speed sensor?

I dont think it adjusts ur speedometer, i think it just makes it more accurate for giving a better arrival time when using your nav.
