Rx seat cracking
#16
It didn't take long for me to get the creases on my 2010 RX after I purchased it. It was something I noticed right away, because my previous RX that I drove(2007) had great looking leather seats, and I hardly did anything to them except for occasional conditioning whenever I would get the car detailed.

Leather, like all organic materials, wears out. The external color painted on the leather eventually forms small creases and cracks. This is inevitable. It's not the dealer's fault or Lexus' fault. Some of us are harder on the seats than others. If you don't keep the leather clean on a regular basis, the dirt particles will abrade the seat surface and cause wear. Treat your leather regularly. Clean it weekly and condition it every other month. This will go a long way. If you want immediate improvement to the look of your leather, try contacting Fibrenew. They are in So. Cal. They restore leather in car interiors for a relatively low cost. I had this done on my wife's 2003 SC430 with good results.

I took my 2011 into the dealer with major cracks on the driver's seat left bolster. It has 17K miles and is 26 months old. I got the same BS about normal wear and tear. I have used high quality leather conditioning on the seats since I bought the car. I have had two prior Lexus cars with no similar problem. I have a 2006 Jag with three times the mileage and no sign of this kind of damage. This problem is a design defect that Lexus needs to own up to. I wrote the Lexus host web site and they have assigned me a case officer. I will let you know the outcome.

RX seat cracking
Hi, i am a newbie to this forum. I have a RX 350 Dec 2012 mileage is 30000km. I live in a right hand drive country and the lower right seat bottom bolster is severly wrinkled and creased. I fastidously maintain the leather with monthly cleaning and conditioning treatment. Guess my 300lb body weight does not help when i exit and enter the car. I also have a May 2012 Infiniti Fx 37 and the leather is immaculate though it is a weekend car.
Planning to visit the dealer to see if there can be some remedy but i am not holding my breath.

I expect my 2014 RX F-Sport will soon have them too. If it cracks I would expect Lexus to honor their warranty but have never seen one crack.

Yeah, mine is just shy of a year old with 8k miles, and both the drivers and passengers seat bolsters are cracking. I havent wanted to take it in because I figured they would just tell me it was normal wear and tear.

I disagree here.
I never enjoyed leather seating but try getting any thing else.
I would love a cloth interior, but Lexus says it would have to be ordered under a 6 month waiting time.
I also hate "forced feed" options like leather seats or aluminum rims over the proven steel rims or
sun roofs with certain option packages.
Image cranking down a window or manually opening up the rear hatch by hand???

I agree that the Lexus leather seats are too soft and not that durable. My Daughter has a 2010 Civic and her leather seats look new. I used the Lexus leather cleaner and conditioner on her Civic and my RX. Guess whose seats look wrinkly and worn. I try to keep the sun off the RX interior with the windshield sunshade and the RX is garaged, still wearing out, I only weigh 170, so that's not an issue.
