This may be obvious, but if you are just "starting out" with an RX, consider leasing. The lease deals for a FWD version here in Illinois are amazingly good - about $380 a month for a $45k car that's fairly loaded, with a moderate down payment. Having leased four RX's, I find that you can often "trade them in" in the 3rd year of a 4 year lease and come out AHEAD - the net value is better than the buyout cost. Of course, if you drive a lot of miles, this may be a bad idea - a lease is usually quoted at 12k miles a year for the price I noted. Oh, yes, I've heard its a "Chick's Car", and it is my Wife's pride and joy. But, I never feel odd driving it anywhere. I do not frequent "Gilly's" type bars, however.
