The latest nav update is available.

How do you upgrade? I know it's hard drive base system, so upgrade via USB?

The dealership already has the map, the USB stick simply holds an access code and you have to pay nearly $200 for it.

Mine is only a few days old and going in for the Venture Shield today. You can bet I'm going to whine about this and try to get a free upgrade. If I'd had it awhile I could see paying $200, but they already nickel and dime you to death when you buy the car.

The USB stick is $169. I checked the dealer where I bought my current car and they charge 1 hour labor to install = $300 total. Checked the dealer where I bought my previous car and they charge 1/2 hour labor = $233. Both seem excessive IMO for a map update, but there you go.

Just confirmed with the dealership that all 2013 RX models have the latest nav update already installed.

You can check your nav and see what version is installed in your vehicle.

The one that was just released a week or two ago is version 12.1.

LexBob2: I just checked with the "Technology" guy at my dealership and he said my version is the very latest. That said, here is what it reads when I check it on the car:

Version: 21-12-27
Date: 12-06-01

Doesn't sound like the latest version to me...but I need to somehow make sure before I start pushing them. I only purchased the car four days ago.

Very confusing. This is a brand new vehicle and the version number displays as "21-12-27" which is not even in the same format as "12.1". I'll call Lexus tomorrow morning.

DISREGARD...SEE NOTE AT BOTTOM

Nav version clarification: For anyone out there with a new 2013 (any model...RX, GS, LS, etc.) I have just confirmed with the dealership, who was on the phone with Lexus that the following version is the very latest version and equivalent to 12.1. Version 12.1 is what your system will display "ONLY" if it had an older version installed and you upgraded to the latest. The following is the very same thing. He also found out the reason the date is back in June is because that was when the software was finished and released to the vehicle manufacturing plants...but it never made it to the dealerships until a few weeks ago (as version 12.1).

If your system displays the following...you have the very latest in a new 2013:

Version: 21-12-27
Date: 12-06-01

Hope this helps anyone who, like me, thought they had an earlier version.

NOTE: Lexus just called me to advise the version of software in my new 2013 RX is, in fact, 11.1. They further noted the software for the RX models (and a couple of others) will not be available until January 2013. So, 12.1 can not be installed yet on the RX

That's frustrating if true. I received an an email telling me the nav update is available. If it's not ready for my car yet, that doesn't' make much sense.

Just out of curiosity, is this something can be shared among different RXs or for one time use only?
