Those are great prices.
However, these extended warranties can be confusing sometimes because some warranties are only good until the car reaches the 90k miles in a 60month/90k mile warranty, whereas the extended warranty I purchased from National covers my car for 50k miles/5 years from the date of purchase.
Therefore my 2011 RX with 60k miles is covered up to 110K miles or 5years from the date of purchase.
So buyers need to pay attention to the fine print because I almost bought a RX with an Lexus 5 year extended warranty included with 95k miles until I learned that the warranty coverage ended when the car reached 125k miles regardless which would only be a 30k miles warranty so actually about only 2years for me since I drive about 20k miles a year.
However the price of the warranty was pretty good, just was not really much coverage.

Extended warranty a good idea?
Just bought out my RX 2015 lease. I had a 2013 for two years and love almost everything about the model.
I expect to be in a happy relationship with my ride for many years. I'm retired and not thinking I'll be trading in
any time soon. What are folks' thoughts about the extended warranty? I had one on my early 90's used MB
and was very glad I had it. I have a couple of years before I have to decide. Good idea? Would appreciate any comments.
Thank you!

I would say just keep it for a rainy day fund and skip the warranty, if thus far your only maintenance has been oil changes and wiper blades. If you had some serious issues unlike the other RXes then something to consider.

Be sure to shop around other Lexus dealers to get the best deal.

I bought my 2013 specifically because I wanted an ultra reliable car. Thus far it has been...not a big fan of extended warranties, generally not a good deal for the consumer.
When we bought the RX, we had to chuckle: the HARD sell finance guy presented us with a list of stuff we could buy at closing, such as extended warranty, some scratch/dent coverage,
roadside assistance, etc. All in all, five different items. Total price for these items? A cool $10,000. No thanks! But it was worth a chuckle...when my wife and I politely declined
all this stuff, he did a wonderful double take, like we had chosen to turn down a free vacation to Tahiti...it was difficult to keep from laughing, great performance.

I checked into one for a used car about six months ago and decided against it for the following reasons:
Too many restrictions -- had to save receipts for every maintenance performed.
repair of a covered part is NOT covered under warrantee if damage was caused by a non-covered part. (ex. a non-covered part in your engine breaks causing your engine to seize. Sorry! The repair is NOT covered.
So, read the fine print and ask a lot of questions before you decide.

Yes. I bought extended warranty. In the UK Lexus dealers offered two years for the price of 1. This meant the usually 'expensive' Lexus warranty wasn't too bad. Recently had one claim through it for heated seat element (passenger) which was an expensive (dealer) job to repair. (£750). One more small claim in the next 18 months and I'll have saved money with the warranty. I'm happy to take the manufaturer supplied extended warranties for peace of mind - as long as I feel the cost is reasonable. Did the same with BMW when I had one and that paid for itself too.

Purchased a 125k platinum plan from a source on this site. Came out literally 2k cheaper than local dealer's price.
im 2 years in and already at 48k. Will easily reach 100k in 2 years or so. Lexus or no Lexus, i know things will need attention at that high mileges.

And like you said...it pays to shop around for the Lexus warranty. The warranty is the same, but the cost of it could be less.

It sounds like you got a good deal on the Lexus platinum warranty! It's a must have if you keep the car past the standard 4 year warranty. With the electronics alone, such as the navigation unit and all the computers costing thousands of dollars you can't do without it. Now days they don't repair electronics, they replace them with new.

And like you said, i plan on keeping this car and I know I will reach 100k+ within 3-4 years...and at that time i predict something will go wrong...its the law!

I've been reading a lot about buying the extended warranty on this board. As I was looking in my service / warranty book to see what services were due at 30K miles on my 2013 RX350, I saw I have a 72 month / 70K mile powertrain warranty that covers the engine and components, transmission and components, and transaxle. So, there is really no need to buy an expensive extended warranty for the rest of the car with less than 72K miles.

Does your car have computers?
Just problems with those alone could cost you big bucks for replacement !

Its everything from auto folding mirrors to mechanics. For example my driver side folding mirror is now lagging behind the other and was adviced that motor wilk be replaced on the next visit. 500ish for part plus labor and worst case scenario the mirror itself which will be close to 1k. It this case my 1900 wrranty was worth while.
Its a matter of your feel, mine is not 100%, had front brakes re-assembled at 12k, clunk sounds. Warped rotors at 20k not hard driving. I know that most of it wear and tear, but it hasnt been lexus flawless experience for me. Issue is that wife loves the car.

I bought an 84,000 mile warranty when I bought my Lexus (for a great price). I've done maintenance myself, I have my oil changed at the Toyota dealership. Since I'm now losing my job, guess I'll be keeping this Lexus for a while!
