..Extended warranties...how many of you buy them?

Personally I would not buy a third-party warranty.
Too many horror stories about things not covered due to fine print you didn't read or you didn't go to the right shop to get it reparied or they just didn't feel like covereing it and took the chance you wouldn't sue them over it.
Also who knows if they'll still be in business in a few years when you really need them.
At least you know Lexus will still be around and you know you car will get fixed correctly with genuine parts. It may cost more but in some cases you get what you pay for.

Ejm3, I agree with you about possible problems with third party warranties. I don't know if you were responding to my previous post about the Lexus warranty offered by Troy Dietrich (please excuse me if you were not), but I can confirm it is a genuine Lexus warranty, not a third party warranty,

I know it does pay to shop around at various dealers. I know for BMW there's a dealer in Tennessee or somewhere that specializes in selling factory warranties at pretty decent dscounts.
It doesn't matter which dealer sells you the factory warranty just as long as its an authorized dealer.
I guess he makes less on each warranty but does a lot of internet volume from people all over the country to make up for it.

Our 2010 RX450h is our third RX. Had factory extended warranties on the previous two and will get another on the 2010 when we get close to the end of its 4/50k OEM coverage.
In both previous RX cases, not withstanding Lexus "reliability" - we had repairs over and above the cost of the extensions.
Plus, since we either purchase or buy out the leases, we enjoyed quick sale transactions above used car prices...and it absolutely was because there was still Lexus warranty coverage in place. So the extended warranty helped out twice in each case.

Try online places like FD-Warranty.com first, then take that quote to a dealer to negotiate if you want to. You can buy the true Lexus Service Policy from any Lexus dealer including those online.

I am interested in purchasing a extended warranty for my 2008 ES 350, is Troy Dietrich the best person as my dealer appears to be very high. His prices are: 6 yr / $125K $2,090 and 7 yr / 125K for $2,450

No, I don't play soccer!
CRD, welcome to CL and congrats your 400h. The Lexus extended warranty can be purchased up until the basic warranty expires. Unfortunately you're over it mileage wise. Still I'd give Jerry a shout to see what he can do for you. Good luck and enjoy your RX.
