I am looking to buy a 2010 RX350 with AWD and navigation. I been looking on cars.com and found a few cars with the right color combination and features. I contacted two dealers, and both gave me the "internet pricing, no room for negotiation" speech. Is this the norm now? No more haggling at dealerships? No more room to negotiate the price? They are asking for about $36k for RX350 with AWD, navi, and 30k miles.

This absolutely seems the way to buy....I go my '13 from the "fleet Manager" with a set $3000 off the MSRP the same month they came out....I KNOW my local dealership or salesman would not have come close....so YES,,,,internet pricing without the huge 25% commission to the salesman is the way to go, or the "Fleet Mgr",,,Just be careful if you are trading anything in as they may take away some of that savings!!!!

This is pricey!
If you walk into a dealer, there's room for negotiation like lexus loyalty ( 1,000 less) or military discount or even a fresh out of college discount.
Dont forget that events in september and december can get you more bang for your bucks.

Another advantage is, if you qualify, the rates are low.. Like 0.9 % financing.

Shop around.

YES< and you get all those advantages going thru the internet person also...the .9;% financing is great, but usually for 3 years so you might have $1000 payments or have to put a lot down!!

Yes, but $36,000 for a 2010 RX?? And that's the Internet Price?? I think that's too high of a price. It does sound like BS to me. Now, I have seen some pretty decent Internet prices for brand new vehicles, but I would beware of that price for a two-year-old car.

You might want to look on Carmax just to see what a 2010 RX is going for.

Ideally, I want to pay $32k for the car but I doubt the dealer will go down $4k on an used car.

it appears that 2010 RX 350 is coming off from a lease ( 10,000 miles/yr) or a loaner.
if it was from a lease, the residual ( what i will be paying if i decide to keep the car after the lease) is around $28,000.
So, everything in between $36,000-$28,000 is wiggle room.

with profit, the Fair price for that 2010 AWD RX 350 is at $32,000

I purchased a used car last week, and I was able to haggle an extra $1200 off the "no-haggle" price that the dealer listed on their website and Autotrader. I just made sure to let the internet manager know that I was a serious buyer and that I would put down a deposit asap if he accepted my offer.

Not necessarily. Dealers will sometime recognize equity in the old lease to the person who re-leases. My dealer often buys me out of the lease early if I lease again. I have been leasing RX's since 1998. Not one went to full term and I have the same payment I had back in 1998 on my 2012 with nothing down.

When I bought my first Lexus. I knew what I could spend. I had a check from my Credit Union and my old POS Ford Pick up.

Miami had at the time 4 different Lexus dealers. I went to each one. Told them I wanted a CPO RX 2001 or newer. And here is a copy of the check and my title to my Ford.

Each one told me no way. I could get a 1999 with 60K on the miles for that much. I gave them my email address. And said when you want my money let me know.

A month goes by and drive by all of the dealers again. Same used car sales men clowns as before. Same story as before. No way. I said fine let me when you want my money.

About a week later. The manager emails me from Lexus Of Kendall. Says he has a 2001 Gold RX 30K miles. He can let me have.

Go to the dealer the next day with my check and my title. Drove away with my RX.

There not doing you any favors. Your giving them your money. Tell them what you want. And be prepared to walk away. Dont play their game. Play yours.

Did the same thing on my 2007 RX. Except I didnt have to drive. Just emailed all the dealers in Southern California. From Palm Springs to Beverly Hills. Had my RX about 3 weeks later.

To get a good deal, you need to understand what the market price is for the car you want. There are some tools on the internet to help. Here is one: kbb.com.

Every used car purchase is a negotiation, educate yourself and take your time. Be patient and develop some contacts in your local Lexus dealership (if you want to purchase from a dealership and pay a little more). IMO the condition of the car and its options are more important than price ... look the car over carefully (right down to the tires). There are huge differences in how people care for their cars.

I believe $36k for 2010 AWD with Navi/HID, 30k miles is a fair price. Whoever said that car can be had for $32k or below is unrealistic. The car is still in its current generation. If you buy NEW, this car will cost you about $46k.

I'm a big fan of using the internet for purchasing a new car but not sure if I would ever use the internet for buying a used car. To many variables in a used car unlike a new car where you know exactly what your getting.

As you can see, even in excellent condition, the highest this car is going to get is 33,000


So you're willing to pay 6,000 for AWD and Navigation?
I still stand by my comment that i will OnLy buy this RX for 32,000 or at most 33,000.

And just to remind everyone, we're talking about a USED Car and not a CPO Lexus ( which is always pricier).

36k is a good price IMO.
