Default 2014 RX250 won’t rev above 2000 RPM

Hey guys, need some help

Went to start my RX after sitting idle over the winter. Hadn’t started it for about a month (wasn’t a good move I know), so I had to jump the battery.

Once I got her started, I noticed the car won’t rev above 2000 RPM, whether I’m parked, driving, in neutral, or reverse. Check AWD is also flashing.

Its been stored in an underground condo parking lot, so I don’t think anything physically happened to the car. I imagine there’s something going on with the computer.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I picked up an OBD scanner on amazon. You can see the codes it picks up. Nothing substantial.

First get your battery checked at Advance Auto or similar place with a real load test machine. Or just replace your battery and see if things improve. You may need a professional shop that is skilled in further diagnostics and testing beyond reading codes. Reading codes are only the first step in deducting what is wrong with a vehicle. Many folks think the code will always point out what to replace or repair, but that is not true in many cases especially in modern computer controlled vehicles with their many sensors etc.

If I'm reading your scanner right, you have 2 codes that both point to a throttle problem, one with the position sensor for your gas pedal, and the other for the actuator that actually opens the throttle. I would consider that to be substantial.

First step would be to test the position sensor to see what voltage range it's sending out.

Before chasing any sensor output, one must make sure the battery is fully charged and the electrical system is healthy (again strongly dependent on battery voltage). All the data is dependent on sensors and the computer getting the 'right' voltage.

Other than that your throttle may be gummed out and a through cleaning on the TB (throttle body) and fresh tank full of gas can help.

It anyone made the same stupid mistake, I found the solution here:
