First service
Hi, i have a 2012 RX350. I only have about 3800 miles on my car but its also at the 6 month mark. Should i bring in my car for the complimentary service from Lexus? I know the recommondations in the manual are for 5000 miles or 6 months "whichever comes first" but i could find an answer here. Also my car is leased if that makes any difference? Thanks!'

First, welcome to the forum and on your RX350!
My suggestion is call your Service Advisor and get his/her recommendation -- it's a good way to get the relationship going. This is your first service, so if you have any little warranty things, questions, or want to get some of the personalization options changed, it's a good time to do it all in one trip.
I personally also put few miles on my RX, so typically time comes up well before miles when looking at the suggested maintenance schedule. I tend to let the time slip a bit, but never beyond the next 6 month increment, and never slip as it relates to miles. I do basic checks (not changes) of oil level, water, etc myself if I slip the service out a few weeks or months. The SAs I've worked with have never told me "you must" do the service based on time alone or given me grief. I get though what the manual and warranty says if perhaps I had some unusual engine problem or the like. I own my RX outright, so it becomes my problem should anyone tell me I didn't follow the rules, but have never had a problem with this strategy in 10+ years on multiple vehicles that have all had less than 10K/year put on them.

My dealer has a service at 1000 miles first; check things out and make sure all are ok, plus an orientation about new features and dinner!! I guess this is only at big dealer??

Welcome to CL, Techguru31.
I use the time recommendation myself because I never hit the mileage. Still there won't be any great harm extending it a little. It's mostly inspection, tire rotation and having your settings changed free of charge like BertL mentioned. Shouldn't take the dealer very long to do either. But I'd definitely change the oil at one year regardless of mileage.

Lexus used to recommend the first service at 30 days/1,000 miles before they moved the first oil change to 10,000 miles in early 2010. I already had it done before the notice went out. No orientation or dinner though. Geez, I thought I was spoiled by my dealer

It is amazing
Save thousands of dollars, get treated better from top to bottom..........but it is sad I can't go thru
the dealer that is 2 miles from my house instead of driving 110 miles!!!!!!! You do get spoiled getting treated like Royalty!! I know for a fact that many things they do are what the Rolls Royce dealer does and I don't know for sure that RR does more?

TomT127 mentioned that rotating the tires at 3800 is a bit too early, but they rotate them again at the 1 year/ 10000 mile service (which most people are saying to do at 1 year regardless of low mileage) so it shouldn't matter much correct?

Suggest you look at the warranty booklet In your glove compartment when you have a chance. It's pretty simple what Lexus recommends be done at each service interval. Tires are rotated as part of 5K and 10K free warranty service, and recommended to be done every 5K after that (with other things at varying intervals of course.)
