Factory defect Rx^^^NEED Help
Hi all, I am new here. I bought a new Rx350 2012 with a defect passenger rear door a month ago. The dealer suggested to exchange a demo car's door. I refused the suggestion, which I think it is not fair to me. I paid for a brand new car.
I dont know which way I can protect my right. Anyone have any experience to share? I need some advice. Thanks.
BTW, the dealer is in Canada.

Hi all, after 2months waiting, and several contact with manufacturer rep, the dealer agreed to exchange a new door. Or give me $2000 cash if I keep the defect door. I am not sure is it fair or not? Or I should insist to exchange a new car? [/COLOR]

Years ago, I produced Buick tv commercials and the one thing I learned from working with dealers is that they hate to hear from the local zone office.
I would contact the Lexus zone office in Canada and I can almost guarantee it will be resolved almost immediately.

Each Door/panels/trunk/hood....has a VIN tag attached to it. Getting the donor door will have different VIN but getting a new door/aftermarket door will have NO VIN at all.
Ask to exchange for a new car.

It would be perfect if they can exchange a new car for me. But I doubt they will do that.

Tell us more about what happen to your door? If it is a simple fix, I rather have it fixed than a new aftermarket door.
You can get Lexus door and that what you should get if you want it replaced. Do not go aftermarket for your expensive ride (except the wheels). Call other dealers to see how much would that cost. Good luck.

It wont be an after market door. It will be a brand new one from Lexus. If you take the donor door they have to get one from Lexus to replace the one on that car unless they think that someone will buy it as a 3 door?

Don't understand the issue, we don't have lemon laws in Ontario so the ideas from the south about getting a new car don't fly up here. A new door from the Cambridge factory is no different than one off a car in stock. In fact, I'd prefer the door from the in stock RX because it would have a factory finish paint job and a new door would have to be painted to match your car.
What is the defect? If it is a paint flaw or dent then the door from the in stock car is by far the best solution since it would not have to be painted. I hate repaint jobs, they never look perfect like a factory finish usually does!

Contact Lexus North America/USA/Canada whichever country you are in. I find that is the best way to force dealer to speed up fixing/replacing some defectives. Years ago I had an Acura with defective brake and dealer had tried their best to avoid replacing the brake system with new parts. I wrote a letter to Honda/Acura Canada and within a few weeks, some lady phoned me and told me to bring the car back to the dealer where I purchased the car and she had everything arranged to fix my problem. That made my life easier.

If they order a door from the Cambridge factory it will be painted in the factory like all the other doors they make, Thy know the paint code and should not be an issue at all.
