Stress crack in the front windshield?
Hi, I wonder if anyone has encountered front windshield replacement for your 2010-2012 RX? Would there be a lot of scratches and hassles after the installation?
What a day, my RX just got one while driving on a city road today. It wasn't too hot and after a 5-10 minutes driving from the work parking lot, the crack developed but the glass surface is smooth inside and outside. It is near the driver's side edge and I bet at night it will be very distracting because of the height of the crack
The trailing tail is about 8.5 inches. I bet it is not repairable, correct?
Any comments/help are greatly appreciated.

Mine was replaced in the 1st year. They ruled it a freak stress crack and started from the bottom up toward the mirror. They used OEM glass and everything went well including getting all the sensors back in place and working just fine. It's quite, doesn't leak and no issues at all. Yep, they can do it. Actually the local glass people that specialize in it came to the dealership and did it where the Lexus techs could handle the mirror and other electric stuff.

Pretty sure that is a rock chip and then the radiating cracks from it. It can not be repaired once they go past an inch or so across.
I have had many windshields replaced over the years and never had any issues at all.

InRBigness,
Thanks for the comment. You are right. After going to the dealership, it was pointed out that it is not a stress crack but a stone which hits at one spot with radiating crack line. Last night when I pressed the spot, I didn't press it enough to discern the roughness.
Cruiter,
Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, this is not the arrangement possible for my dealership. The window guy is from an outside company who does the whole job from beginning to an end.

Do possibly have pictures of the stress cracks that you had replaced?...I am fighting with my dealer about the cracks ths suddenly appears on my windshield. This was not an impact and the dealer refuses to stand by the warranty. They simply don't belive me and cannot identify any points of exterior impact.
