Default Curt Hitch Install (Videos)

I Recently installed a Curt Class 3 trailer hitch #13541 on our 2010 Lexus RX 350. I thought it would be fun to video the project and post it up on the forum. The job "start to finish" took about two and a half hours. But, a lot of that was dealing with the video, rounding up tools, a quick sandwich, etc. Easily the biggest PITA was removing the facia under the rear of the car. Anyway, let's get started.

Here comes the "fun" part.

Actual Installation, not too bad!

Now the lights. Curt part #56083

Trimming up the facia. I did not include a video of the re-install. Just basically reverse the removal process.

The finished product,,, and the smartest moment of the day. Letting the "owner" finish the job with a Lexus receiver plug, ($9 online.)

Hope you enjoyed the videos and I hope they will be helpful to someone looking to do this install on their own.

Y'all are welcome! I'm hoping the videos will make this job easier for forum members who decide on a DIY hitch install. Saves a bunch of money and can be done by anyone who has a little mechanical know how. Hey, if I can do it, you can do it. LOL!!!

I am installing my hitch this weekend. Thanks VERY much for your posts. Though I am certain I would have no issues, it is always nice to see how other did the job...

World-class! I have a question about the fascia. Do the instructions tell you exactly where to cut on the sides and in the center?

Default Thank you!!!

You did a great job...I have seen other posts on youtube that don't go into nearly as much detail as you did. Thanks for helping me set my expectations for my own project installation that will be coming up soon for my 2013 RX.

Default Good job!

Great post here!

I will be using this for installation soon. And a good excuse to go get a go pro camera.

Default Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Just installed the same hitch in a 2012 RX, and thanks to your vidoes and hints, the hitch went in without a hitch. You may have found the facia replacement to be a PITA, but it's not for the rest of us because thanks to your videos (and the Curtis instructions, which were excellent) the whole process was so painless that the last step of putting back the facia was a minor inconvenience. BTW, I used a five-gallon bucket to prop the hitch during installation. It was the perfect height. Again, THANKS!!!
