Default Is there a way to setup my 2010 RX to provide an audio cue when fuel is low?

My '08 Ford Fusion and '07 Jeep Wrangler do this but for some reason my '10 RX 350 does not.

I tried looking in the vehicle settings but could not find anything. I just want the vehicle to beep at me when fuel mileage gets low as I've gotten within less than 10 miles the last few tanks before I noticed that I need to fill up.

Thanks in advance.

JP, welcome to the forum, you'll find it a great place.

RE: fuel, you do get an amber fuel light when the fuel is low, but that's just to get your attention if you don't watch the gauge. At that point, it's always possible you won't make it to a fuel station. A good rule in any car is to refill at a quarter tank or sooner.

IMO, I don't think that having a beep for the gas notification is really necessary. No need for another annoying sound. It's basic driver's instinct to always look at the gauges. Unless drivers nowadays look at their cellphones instead of the gauges, then there's a big problem.

I was 40 miles out last night when the guage hit 0km left. I made it with no issues and even then was only able to put in 57 liters of gas in which is 7 liters or almost 2 US gallons short of empty.

If you dont see the big orange gas notification or the fact the guage is at zero or that your estimated milage to empty is at zero, I am not sure short of a German Oompah Pah band playing that a noise will help you out at all.

Default Warning

You could always leave your Nav display on the Cruise info page. And it will give you a countdown till you run out of gas.

X2, there's simply no need for an annoying chiming sound/beep.

That's for sure.
I have a hard time now figuring out what I'm doing wrong without another beep, buzzer, or chime.

The only way I know how to setup the audio cue is to ask all my passengers to verbally remind me to fill up if and when they see low fuel indications on my dashboard.

Building on your solution I think I have the ultimate work around for this problem.

What you need is a passenger who is on the, shall we say, opinionated and outspoken side to ride in the passenger seat. It would help if this person has little confindence in your ability to judge situations and deal with them in a successful manner. A general disdain for you would also be beneficial.

The warning could be somthing such as: "Your low on gas. You run out and there is no way in hell I am going to push this car because you couldnt read a gas guage properly!"

I suggest that the original poster get..........

Easy with the comments

Maybe LucidLuniz is not familiar with all the (sometimes annoying) bells and whistles we get on the RX, an audible low fuel warning not being one of them. The light is enough for me, not that I let it get that far. Maybe get in the habit of fueling up more often There's really no other solution.

Now Kitlz, this is an equal opportunity comment as most of my women friends will tell you the same thing. We would make Father in Law jokes but experience says they are not able to get a word in edgewise....

This annoying nanny chime can be turned off by the dealer which is first thing I had them do. You do get the intial chime but then silence. We always wear our belts but it is a couple of hundred ft from the mailboxes to our front door and if I bail out to get the mail I don't the chime continuing to ding for the last few feet.

When the mileage countdown counter reaches Zero you still have two gallons in the tank.

Thank God, No, there is not.
(Or on any other car that I know of.)
Now let's move on.
