Number of Parking Assist Sensors
Does anyone have any thought on why there are only 2 sensors on the front bumper and 4 sensors on the rear bumper? I assume the 2 inner sensors on the rear bumper are used to measure distance from any object parallel to the rear bumper. Shouldn't that same principle apply to the front bumper to measure distance from object parallel to the front bumper, or do we think this is for cost saving reasons within Lexus to use 2 less sensors on the front bumper?

I think this is because the RX is the "entry" SUV for Lexus, Lexus puts more sensors up front on cars higher up on the Lexus ladder such as the GX that has 4 up front.
The same applies to the lineup of cars too...
IS/ES - 2 front
GS - 4 front
LS - 6 front

Yes, I was surprised there were only two on the front and for monitoring the distance at the front corners of the car only. I don't understand why they didn't put two more sensors similar to the rear. Other cars I owned always had both on the front. It can't be much of a cost savings for Lexus.

I wish they would get rid of all of them, they are ugly. I see now it is more of an option for the parking sensors, I wish I had had that choice. Camera is all you need. IMO.

Absolutely agree with you. I could see the round circles on my previous BMW where the rear parking assist was, but they were flush to the bumper and almost unrecognizable for those not looking for them.
