Default RX Updated

I just read this quote in Automotive News, a publication for dealers.

'And in early 2014, the redesigned volume-leading RX 350 crossover is expected.'

As long as the redesign doesn't have that hideous grill treatment. But I think it is the way Lexus is going with their family resemblance

Define "hideous grill treatment".

So a wagon version of the rx? So far, every crossover I've seen hasn't faired well. I hope Lexus does better. Maybe a hybrid of the old IS300 sport wagon and 3rd gen rx?

I think he is referring to the edgy appearance of the new GS.

Early 2014 launched as the 2015 RX sounds about right. I heard that from my dealer too.

Sorry but it looks like it will be the new face of all Lexus vehicles.

The LX just got a refresh and received the new grill.

Agreed. That new grill struck me as an old fashioned cattle catcher on the steam engine of a locomotive train. UGLY.

+1 -- With all this talk the last few days of vehicle refresh coming, I briefly had a bit of buyer's remorse ...but with these pictures of the new possible front ends, I'm SO happy that I'll have my new 2012 RX450h in the next month or so with a more traditional front end that I know I'll love for many years. Hopefully Lexus will come around or the new more aggressive and "cattle catcher" look will grow on me before it's time for a replacement.

Ugh. Yup, that's the grill treatment I was talking about. I HATE where they are going with that. It's like some weird transitionary period where they are trying to attract younger buyers or something. I was hoping Lexus would use the lesson Acura learned when they altered their front end so drastically and were villified in the marketplace by both reviewers and consumers. The new front ends make it look like your vehicle is ready to swallow a small child or a number of medium sized dogs that may venture in front of you. Blech.

According to page 12 of the below document the "spindle grill" as it is being called will be making it's way into all members of the Lexus family as evidenced by the new GS:

yes this is a very aggressive front end. I do like it on the sports cars like the LFA and the new concept Hybrid 2 door coupe. I dont think it fits in the RX or on the LS which are more rifined and less sporty.

It reminds me of a Battlestar Galactica helmet.

LOL

Page 21 should please some folks here. The cold weather package on the GS includes a heated steering wheel (standard on GS450h) so one can assume that will eventually be adopted across product lines.

I am sure it will be very toned down for the RX...
