Default Clear bra protection

Hi everyone,

I'm new to CL. I purchased a 2010 RX 350 (silver color) in May and was offered to have paint protection film installed by my dealer for $550. Of course, I opted out. Now, I kinda regret it.

Do you guys have it installed somewhere else besides the dealer? if so, how much did you pay?

Thanks.

I had problems with a factory (port) installed one. Paint under it looked like it was bubbling. An attempt to re apply made it worse. Finally removed it.

Finished result will depend on the skill of the installer. Before you accept it and pay for the job, inspect it.

I had the 3M film installed on my 2010 Black RX350. They did the bumper/18-22" of the hood down to the fenders/Mirrors/door edges/and the inside of the door handles for $635. It looks great and is nearly impossible to see, even on a black car. I did not have it done at the dealer, they quoted me $695 and it was only 18" of the hood and the mirrors. Ripoff.

I had my clear bra installed at the dealer. Yes, it was expensive but my RX left the lot protected from day one and the dealer gave me lifetime warranty. It was the 3M precut kit - bumper, fenders, side mirrors - but I had the full hood done plus the A-pillars. No regrets here.

I have it all over my MINI Cooper and when I can find time, the RX WILL have it.

No regrets on the Cooper, it's so low to the ground it gets peppered with rocks and debris.

Thanks guys... There are a couple places around my area, and they quote me around $500 for 3M film... I called my dealer yesterday and my sale person told me that they have a life time guarantee. Now the dealer quoted me for $495. I'm going with the dealer. Thanks again for all the information. Cheer!!!

Make sure to find out what the "lifetime guarantee" actually means and covers.

We had it done on both our 08 IS350 and 10 RX by the dealer and while I like the product. Its the installation and service that makes it worth while.

Our IS had bad bubbling in the creases on the headlights and our dealer would do nothing about it.

Our dealer hires this out so you may want to find out if your dealer does the same and find out the company name to see if they do quality work.

Also when we got our paperwork there was a full pamphlet disclaimer stating that the product may bubble slightly, not be totally clear, shouldn't be thought of as totally invisible, and if you cant see defects from 15feet away then its acceptable.

Long story short I will probably buy this protection again but not from the dealer.

Thanks for this head sup. I just called the local shop (from the website Rominl gave) and they quoted the price for the Standard package (Hood, Mirror, and front fenders) is $210 and the Deluxe package (the whole front of the vehicle) is $585.

Is that good?

After getting a hit I changed my mind and decided to get the Ventureshield and just do the front bumper cover and side mirrors.
Install is tomorrow.I've used this guy before and he is great. He does say that no bra will not yellow a bit no matter if it's Ventureshield or 3M who now owns Ventureshield.
Proper care plays a big part on longevity.

I'll be picking up some Plexus for mine. The clear bra is porous so you don't want to put the wrong stuff on there. I clayed it this past weekend without any issues. Now it's time to put the right stuff on there for maximum protection.

Anita,Plexus is good but doesn't last long at all.One rain or two.Better off with a non abrasive synthetic polymer protectant for paint from Meguiars,Mothers,3M etc which is much better protection.
I use Zaino Z2.
I use Plexus for my speedometer lens and wood accents.
