2013 rx350 [Updated with leaked pics page 2]

vehicles have now a reduced "life", renewal periods are now shorter than in the past and 5 years tends to be a 4-year period (in the past models were sold for 7 years!) but Audi tends to be shorter with a new model or facelift every 2 years or so which disturbs me and one of the reason why I will never buy Audi or bmw... (other reasons of course but out of scope here).

When you start breaking it down it is just a refresh. Rear taillights are the same shape so easy change out, front end is a change out, the fenders are the same and I'm thinking not a change to the hood. Changed the steering wheel to the GS wheel and added a piece of trim to the glove box. Oh, and new color combos.
The next gen would get that new big screen and a different dash all together. They will probably stiffen the chassis and tweak the suspension, hopefully not to the harsher side. New sheet metal all around. That's my guess. They may wait till 2016 with the release of this update.

No, I don't play soccer!
I made the comment based on previous refreshes. 1st gen was just a change to the tail lights, the 2nd gen a change to the engine and model name. While they have their similarities, this is a bit more than I would have expected.

Keep in mind the leaked pics are Japanese market, right hand drive. Some details might not be exactly the same in the North American market.
For instance, if you look at the current (2012) model year pictures at the Japanese RX home page, they still have the Lexus name badge on the rear hatch.
It does look like they are updating the Remote Touch consistent with what's in the new GS. The nav screen itself remains the smaller version (no change) but I believe I read elsewhere they will be incorporating the new Entune into the Nav. That uses your smartphone's Internet connection to present services such as Pandora, Bing, etc. on the car's screen.
That aside, I'd call it kind of a partial refresh based on what I've seen. Perhaps Generation 3.5?
I'm loving the F Sport look (mesh grill, wheels, metal pedals, etc.) but wonder if it will be available in the 450h in North america. The 2013 GS 450h is NOT being released with the F Sport package in North America but is abroad.

the enter buttons on the side have been removed from the remote touch and it is push down like the new GS
Also the Lexus nameplate remains on vehicles for all other countries besides the US

I like the streamlined front-end of the current 450h more than this revision. The new design looks busy and a little ugly. The current design is a better match to the overall sleek look of the 450h. The prominent lower edge of the new design will probably be much more susceptible to dings and road rash ... especially compared to the recessed current design.
I will give the designer credit for doing a nice job of trying to integrate the spindle grille into the existing design ... it could have looked much more unnatural.

i'm not crazy about the 20"ers. My 2011 RX350 has 19"ers and I wish it had the 18s. Replacements keep costing more and wear gets worse when you go to 19 and 20" And they are more susceptible to damage.

I really like the current version and, at least for me, the jury is still out on the new version.
