First thing I'd do is report the dealership to Lexus.

Local generic versus Factory molding install
Just picked up LX350 and will be contacting the local contracted individual who installs molding for local Lexus Dealer (not part of Lexus USA). The molding offered by contractor is generic, but he's an individual that I've done business with before and I'll have him install the factory molding that I secure from Sewell.
Thanks!

TBoy, why not install it yourself? All the instructions for installation is found on the Sewell site. If I can do it, anybody can.

Many factory painted ones are available by a dealer on ebay for $99, and as someone said, you can do it yourself!! I saw my dealer's guy doing an RX a couple of months ago and he was doing it jUST like the Sewell video; from previous experience, probably charges dealer $30 to install!! Dealer cost is probably $60 since they show a list price of $180......I think Sewel is just below $100 for CL members?

I installed body side molding on our new 2013 satin cashmere RX this weekend. I was going to order from Sewell but my local dealer matched the price ($106 from Sewell with shipping) so I bought it from him. Took about an hour to install but I really went slow and measured everything several times. Did not require two people. In addition to the vertical tape in the middle and on each end I also installed some additional pieces of tape to serve as a guide while I had the molding taped in place. I put another piece just above the ends in the center and ran a few pieces horizontally. I found it helped me center the molding while sticking it in place, since I was doing it by myself. It came out fine, both sides match up perfect as per factory specs.

Beautiful. I just bought my side mouldings from Sewell on the strength of your pictures. I have a 2010 in Tungsten Pearl so can't wait to get them on mine.
BTW the huge discount ClubLexus forum members get can't be understated. I think we should give Sewell all our business collectively because of that. Just saying...
