Default Blind spot monitor problem

I have a RX 450 H 2013 model and I have had a problem with the driver side blind spot monitor. I have taken it to lexus and they have checked it out and told me every thing is fine.

I have looked at the manual and it shows a diagram of the blind spot monitor sensing area. It indicates that the light should start blinking when the car is about 9 feet behind your car. That is the case for the passenger side monitor, but on the drivers side it does not blink until the car is even with my back bumper. I have lost faith in the system, because it does not provide the warning that someone has entered your blind spot. I am taking it back to the dealership to check it out again. Any suggestions on this problem.

Thank You,

Jim Kidd

Interesting. I have the opposite problem. It senses cars way too far back behind my car. Pretty much useless for me. I just use my mirrors instead. I learned how to do that from a summer driving in exotic locales. But who knew that cat and driver had an actual write up on the subject. http://www.caranddriver.com/features/how-to-adjust-your-mirrors-to-avoid-blind-spots

I did that in my S4 after the last Blind Spot discussion and couldn't be happier. I pulled the fuse on the BSM because the feature is useless - too many early warnings, so I ignore it anyway.
Our RX450h was made right before this feature became "mandatory", which is just fine by me. I did not want to pay for all the bloat tech in the first place.

Little bit off topic question: when you pull a fuse does that throw off any warning lights on the dash?

It throws a hidden code. My Carista scanner picks it up, but there's nothing on the dash.
But this is for my Audi. The only reason I did not turn it off using the on/off button is because it still keeps the BSM radar active(!), which interferes with my good 'ol trusted V1 radar detector.
