First of all I am not trying to tell anyone what gas to use, I was pretty clear in one of my posts that people should use whatever they want.
Second, this isn't a court of law so I don't have to support anything to YOU, besides you should have quoted exactly what I wrote which was;
"IMO some people expect to feel a difference after filling their tank with 93 once. And when they don't feel a change after one tank they go back to 87. What they don't understand is that it will take several tanks of 93 before they feel a difference. If they don't feel a difference after several tanks of 93 then go back to 87, but one tank of 93 isn't going to change anything"
I guess you missed the "IMO" that I started my sentence with. However,it is known that it takes time for a vehicle's engine controllers to adjust to various changes, be it a software updates, tunes, fuel types etc.
You can read the C&D link that someone else posted if you like or do your own research on this thing called Google.

In retrospect my question sounds harsh and I apologize for that. I was not trying to infer that you were telling other folks what grade of fuel to use. I didn't read that into your post at all.
As you mentioned, I only quoted what I was questioning not the other statements in your post and yes I missed the "IMO" which indicates that your post was your feeling and not at all factual.
I certainly would expect engine controllers like pre detonation sensors to react quicker than several tanks of fuel before retarding or advancing the timing.

I have had numerous models including the 07 ES, 07 RX and a 10RX all which required 93 octane. I took the advise of a head mechanic at the Lexus store. He said run 87 and once every 6 months buy a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner by Chevron at Walmart and add to a full tank and motor on.
He said Lexus required 93 in order to get best performance and fuel economy for the Government ratings.
I currently have a 13 RX which run runs happily on 87 getting me 25 mpg on the highway and will douse my cabin with exhaust smells under heavy acceleration, but that's another story, (see my post exhaust in cabin rx350)

Used 91 octane for the first 4 years (2009-2013), and been using 87 Regular for the most part since then, with the occasional 91 or 94 octane fills.
Basically I fill up with 91 or 94 anytime the price difference is under $0.12 per litre ($0.45 per gallon).
Typically it's about $0.17-0.20 a litre difference ($0.65 per gallon)
I've actually noted no difference in feel of driving or milage.

well i know on my 2001, and 2005 the engine computer definitely advanced timing and made other adjustments for the higher octane. but my 2015 seems to perform worse on higher octane. so im sure thats why they only call for 87 in the 2013 to 2015`s. however, when i contacted lexus corporate they were strong on the fact my RX should really have premium fuel? its to the point where im like what ever, im just going to use regular.

No doubt 87 can be used but nothing was done to the engine to accept 87.
Again,Toyota models with the same 3.5L as the Lexus models have been using the 87 recommendation for years.
Premium gas gain is 4 HP and a bit of torque.
I just feel the RX 350 had a premium recommendation for peak performance so I'm staying with 93.
If I did say 15K miles per,MAYBE I'd go to 87 or 89.
Bottom line is use what ever grade of gas you want.

I use 93 on my '15 and it runs great.I actually feel it runs smoother but it can be a placebo effect.
