Default Headlight Issue

Dear All,
I have a RX270 2014 (similar to RX350 save for a small straight 4 engine) that recently gave me an interesting problem.
This morning I drove out early and my headlight switch gear was on "auto" which mean the low beam comes on when there is insufficient external lighting.
I noticed that the high beam was on and the low beam light was off.
I switched to low beam and the low beam didn't come on.
Switched to high beam, both low and high beam cam on.
Can anyone tell me what has gone wrong?
Steven

Do your daytime running lights work?
You probably need a new headlight stalk (switch), or it may be the sensor. I think it is more likely the stalk has worn out and needs to be replaced as it has more parts that move.
There are a lot of used ones on eBay but they don't appear to be much cheaper than the new ones listed below.
With the airbag in the steering wheel etc you may want a body shop to install the new switch for you as they can be very dangerous to work around. There are youtube videos that show how to replace it.

The automatic light control does not cost that much but I don't know how to install it or diagnose your problem. You may want an independent Toyota specialist shop to diagnose it. Or do more searching on this site as the same or similar switch is shared by many Lexus vehicles.
A body shop may know how to install it. https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts-..._conlight.html

It appears there are 2 different swtich options. However your Canada VIN may not work on a US parts site. You may have to confirm the parts numbers from a Canada Lexus parts site or local dealer. Also things may be a bit different on a 270 vs a 350 besides the engine. There are also different trims and other differences between US and Canada vehicles.

My suggestion is to switch off the Auto mode and see if the basic (manual) settings work.
Parking lights. [Depending on which part of the world you are, Lexus parking lights may work differently]
Low Beam
Hi beam [fog lights should turn off].
Fog lights

If you need assistance in figuring out what is normal. please check the owners manual.
