The 3RX Gas Mileage Thread
#466
Absolute best mileage in the summer (i.e. when the air is less dense) all highway is almost 27mpg with nothing on the roof and only me in the car - at a consistent 65 mph. With my bike rack up there (no bike) it is about 25 mpg. I find that speed is a big determinant of the mileage. At 75 my 27 goes to 24.5.
Winter is almost three mpg less.

RX 350 Milage
Just finished a 1000 mile trip on mostly highway. Got 24 mpg. Around town mixed miles is about 19. I averaged 71 mph on trip...probably get better milage at slower speeds...but why bother ...you spent $50,000 on the vehicle milage shouldn't be a concern. My RX has a total of 2400 miles so it's still in the breakin stage. Love the drive......

My 2013 RX 350 AWD hit 16,000 miles yesterday on my trip home to Indianapolis from the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. I broke the 24 mpg highway barrier for the first time--27.1.

Gas Mileage Results
When we purchased our CPO 2010 RX350 I was somewhat concerned about mileage from reading through this thread. I have been pleasantly surprised with its mileage. Around town and the work circuit we are averaging 21.5 to 22.0 mpg. On out last big trip of 472 miles we averaged 24.7 mpg. We had a good mix of interstate, two lane roads and some city. We have been more than pleased with its mpg performance. The RX350 has plenty of power when I need it as well. Overall with the quiet ride, fuel economy and performance we are glad we have an RX.

2011 RX350 Mileage
I'm new here. I've read some threads on mileage and given the fact that my (new to me) Lexus drinks premium, I thought I'd start to track mileage right away. I've had the car a week and I've put on just about 200 miles.
Today I had to drive about 70 mile through NYC and over to Jersey City for business. On the way home, I took advantage of the cheap NJ Gas and filled up with 93.
My trip home from the station was just over 45 miles. The first 40 miles were all highway at mixed speeds but with the cruise control set for 70 when safe and possible.
Here's how it looked as I was about to exit the Taconic.
What do you think??.. Is this what I should expect for normal highway driving?? If so, I'm pleased with that.

Yes, this is what you can expect for normal highway driving. It will probably drop in stop & go traffic. We have the same car, and our MPG is mostly around 20.5 with regular. It's ok to run regular, even though the manual sez premium.

"Honest officer, I wasn't texting at 70 mph, I was taking pictures of my instrument cluster for the Club Lexus bulletin board!"
Actually, I've done the same thing at 115 mph with my '64 Chevy on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

I just picked up our 2015. I was surprised to see after top off the gas tank we got 23 mpg. ODO reads 300 miles. I drive very gentle.. ( learned some tricks from our commuter Prius) and keep posted speeds..
This will only get better when the RX gets more mileage ( around 3000 things are just settling in). Check your tire pressure too. That plays a big part.

When you pay 50K for an auto why worry about gas milage......Like weighting 300lb and thinking about a pimple on your butt. I get around 19-20 general driving....which includes going from stop to 80 mph.......I enjoy the drive why worry about gas.....I also fish a lot and you know fisherman are liars.....
