That calculator is very inaccurate. Being a DIYer, I know the prices on parts and/or labor and it's no where near the real deal.

The prices by Edmunds appears in the lower ranger. Lab charges may be the most expensive items.

Sorry folks for bringing back this thread, but I got my 25k maintenance work done for my 2010 Rx 350 today at a nearby dealership. Since I bought my vehicle last August, I requested for an oil change as well. Also, got the recall checked, this all done I shelled out $224 out the door, does this seem a fair price?

I paid $198 for oil change and what ever else is in a standard service. Did you charge labor for getting a recall checked?

Depends on what they do during these services. I'm guessing a dealership oil change is around $100 - is that right?

I checked the bill and I was charged $0 for recall, they did everything as stated in the manual for 25k maintenance. Parts was $64 and labor around $136 with taxes it came to $224, but they did fill the tank up completely and they said it's their practice to fill up the tank during any recall.

I do not have any plan to take my RX to the dealer for maintenance nor repair. Most maintenance I can do myself. I just changed the oil and filter last week. I enjoy doing that sort of work. If I ever need to take it it, I will take it to a mechanic which I will investigate first.

I had a BMW 520e, bought brand new and had it for 11 years. I did all maintenance myself and never took it to the dealer. There are so many good bmw mechanics around. I am sure there are plenty of Lexus mechanics too.

There is no such thing as 25K service, there is a 30K which costs about $250 - $350, but I have never heard of a 25K service.

Have a look at page #8. Right out of the 2010 Owner's Manual:

MjThind, I had my 25K service two months ago. It's considered minor service, basically rotate tires and check this and that. I was in and out in no time. Plus it was free to me thanks to my awesome SA Guess I'll save the Lexus points for the 30K. That might be free too

"Re-torque nuts and bolts of drive shaft " does really need to be done? I have a 2010 RX350 and it is a AWD. What exactly is this?

Assuming a normal charge for an oil change is roughly $100, you seem to have paid somewhere around $100 for a tire rotation, a drive around the block, and a bunch of "inspections" that would take about 5 minutes. Considering that many tire stores will rotate your tires for free, I'm not sure you got much value for your money, but that's just the way I think. I complained about a nearly $400 charge for similar service (15K, that did not include an oil change) on our '10 RX350 sometime ago, and was told that was what all the "premium brands" charged for their service. Seemed ridiculous at the time, and frankly, it still does.

I like Anita's SA, who did her service without the oil change for free. Although I believe that's the way it SHOULD be, maybe it would be worth it to develop a good relationship with your SA, too.

I just got my 25k mine last week I prefer to get my oil change every 5k, but I was referring to anything major because he was charged for almost the price of a 30k service. I didn't literally mean no such thing as a 25k, I meant a major 25k service, know what I mean?

Early this month I had my 15k service done. The total cost was 181.00 plus a loaner and they delivered my vehicle to me after the service was completed.

That's what I thought. It gets confusing now that the RX can go 10K between oil changes but the major services remain the same. Minor service including the 25K should be no more than $75. I recommend asking the SA to have only what needs to be done done. Mine does exactly that and will find coupons to help defray the cost even more. She won't let me overpay for stuff I don't need especially since I have low mileage.
