Default Mark Levinson System

Hi,

We have a 2011 RX 450h with the Mark Levinson system, and we wanted to know how others get the most out of their system.

What type of CD's and or DVD's can you play on the system?

We know it will play standard CD's, CD's burned using itunes (lossless) mp3.

The system doesn't seem to play CD's burned using higher quality 96/24 FLAC.

The system does not play SACD's.

Can the system play DVD Audio discs?

Thanks,
Steve772

the system should be able to play dvd-a, and also dvd video disc. it will show vide on screen if car is in P and parking brake engaged (unless you get the override)

rominl,

Thank You!

Do you have an opinion what is the best (and hopefully easiest) override?

override unit from prestigious society, a lot of people here have it (i do). it allows you to have full access to nav and also enable dvd video when driving. all plug and play, that's what i like most coz' i don't cut wires in my car. you can email chung@prestigioussociety.com for more info

I pefer to play audio dvd onthe ML. To me, it makes a difference, particularly when you use the surround sound mode. You can put more info on a dvd than a cd, and a good recording takes advantage of that. I rarely use other media because I don't think the sound quality is as good.

Where do you get your DVD Audio discs?

We use a Mac, iTunes, SACD's (we know the SACD's won't play in the car) and CD's.

Why don't you just make a MP3 DVD?
It holds more music and shows artist's names and songs.

Sorry, I misled you. The DVDs are actually music videos, but since I can't see the video when driving, I think of them as audio to distinguish them from movie videos

Thank You...

I am trying to figure out the best way to download and copy to disc the high end playable format from https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=default

It appears 96khz/24bit FLAC will not playback in the ML system.

In our home system this music sounds best of any format!

We picked up a DVD-A The Beatles / Love, and that seems to offer the higest quality sound (so far).
