One really nice feature with this system and the HID lights in the RX is that when switching back and forth from low to high beam the bulb is not constantly on and off as in most systems. That will reduce the life of the lamp/bulb. In the RX with HID's, the bulb stay's constant and a shutter pops up covering a portion of the lamp for low beam and pops down for high beam. How many of you folks knew that tidbit ???

I took it to the dealer, and he did not think I have the option. I did ask about the sensor on the back side of the reaview mirrio and was stumped. Is it possible the option was not turned on??

If you have option pkg Bi-Xenon HID headlamps with AFS and Automatic High Beams for $1175 and this lens on your mirror, then they just need to turn it on in the service department with their computer.

And set your controls as shown in 2nd image and placing stalk forward toward the dash.

My 10 RX has the auto dimming feature and it works great when it is very dark outside and in highway situations. However in the city on some curved roads it is a little slow to react to oncoming traffic, so I will manually switch them to manual mode to avoid blinding drivers who may come around a corner at me. It is great to have the headlights turn with the steering wheel and light up the curves.
When I imported my RX into Canada, even though it had daytime running lights I had to have a relay installed to keep the low beam headlights on at all times to satisfy our Registrar of imported vehicles requirements. The DLR's in the RX can be turned off with the switch and that is a no no for our RIV. Funny because some of these RX are built in Cambridge Ontario. You'd think they would build them to satisfy our requirements as many of these end up in Canada. The MSRP is close to $10,000 higher in Canada. We get hosed on car prices here.

Somewhat true, however the Canadian RX is spec'd out differently in Canada. There is more sound and weather related insulation, the front windshield & the tires are made to DOT specs, the car is winterized, has more corrosion protection, the wiring is different, and a whole lot more. All these government mandated & regulated differences that are designed to improve the car's life in our climate and in our severe driving conditions. None of this is publicized by the dealers unless you probe them.

The US is a much more competitive dog-eat-dog market. Canadians tolerate a pricier standard of living. Manufacturers of commodities (and let's face it, cars are "throwaway" commodities nowadays) know this and adjust their pricing accordingly, but there are some spin-offs for paying more as well, and our government, being more socialist than the US as a rule, gets its sticky fingers in many more aspects of our lives; some of it good, some not so good.

I'd like to visit the Cambridge assembly line to see how much different the Canadian spec really is from the US spec. model?
You can buy a lot of insulation for 10K.

Fact is that fewer Canadians will tolerate automobile dealers who for years have had a sell at full list price policy, and as our dollar nears parity, more and more Canadians will be importing new or nearly new cars from the US. We are seeing more car manufacturers offering cash back, low rate financing and some discounting here in Canada. Toyota here in western Canada had a dealer agreement to sell at only full list prices and that was cast in stone, while their US counterparts were offering excellent price reductions. Canadians have become tired of knowing that even vehicles manufactured here in Canada were being marketed in the US at prices up to 20%less.
The flow of cars coming across the border will only increase until prices in Canada start to come down to comparative levels.
We are seeing Nissan and Toyota dealers in Canada picking up US vehicles to market here in Canada.........why, because they can turn a good dollar on these used cars.

I had this feature on my 2011 RX350 which I just traded in for a 2013 RX450h which does not have this feature. I truly loved the auto dimming on my 2011 RX. Does anyone know if the feature can be installed by a Lexus dealership or only when being built at the factory? I would love to have this feature and would be will to pay (within reason) to have it installed.
