Default RX450h self leveling Air suspension

Does anyone have any knowledge about the RX self leveling Air suspension system. I googled it and found it discussed on the UK club site. It is mentioned as an option. I haven't found anything on it at Lexus.com for the RX. I bought my car about two weeks ago and found today that its on my car. I had no idea it was offered. Anyone have some information on it?

correct, i don't think the option is available for US spec at all

OP, where are you located?

if i am correct, the system is just air suspension ride. there are sensors to adjust the height of each corner according to the weight and incline, etc...

if its the same one on my 2gen RX (which I believe so), its useless except for the easy exit/entry feature

I agree with RXSF, it's pretty useless. I had it on my 330 as part of the performance package. It would lower the RX when it was turned off and could be manually set higher, lower or turned off. But I never bothered with it. Lexus did not include as part of the sport package on the 3rd gen which is somewhat comparable to PP. It wasn't an option either.

BlueSurf, check your owners manual for more info. Air suspension is listed in there on page 244. I see they put a button in the cargo area for it in addition to the dash. Take pictures when you can.

I was asking about it because I don't know anything about it. What I can tell you is that for example I had the car in the garage for three days. When I got into my car and sat in the seat, immediately the car began to hear in the silence of the garage a pump vibrating (a compressor sound) my car and my seat rose up around 2 inches. This happens all the time especially if two of get in. Last Evening I sprayed windex on the windshield, I had to reach on the hood and put pressure on the hood to get the middle of the window, again the compressor kicked in and up it went. I'll ask the dealer when the car needs servicing, however that won't be for a while. If anyone has real knowledge about this system I hope they share it with us.

...that doesnt sound like the air suspension to me. You have your vehicle on when you get in and out? Usually it doesnt start to rise until you reach 5 miles per hour or something like that.

If it's anything like the system on the GX or LX, the height will adjust in response to a load almost as soon as you start the engine, provided that the "easy exit" feature is not activated (i.e., vehicle is in "N", not in "LO" suspension mode). If you are in "LO", then it should stay that way, like you say, until you pick up some speed (15 mph on the LX, FWIW).

the hissing sound could be the brake fluid pump. it's pretty common for them to work after car is shut off or so.

and for air suspension, the ride should be better than normal spring/shock suspension. on the ls460 it's pretty obvious
