Default DIY LED Puddle Lamps

Got some goodies from V-Leds, and this was one of them.

The install is similar to changing the puddle lamps for any other Lexus, same as my IS250 + 1 extra screw per each mirror.

I got the 5k LED board, since I'm going 5k lows and fogs on this car, as well as 5k led parking lights

To start, adjust the mirrors to tilt all the way up so that you can get your hand underneath it to grab. Make it look similar to these:

Pulling upwards, remove the mirror. It may require some force, but it's held on by plastic clips so pull wisely.

I found rolling down the window made it easy and you can rest the mirror on the door.

Next step is removing the 5 screws per mirror to disassemble it. Driver side:

Passenger side:

Next is separating it, by pulling along the edge. I actually found that holding the inside and pulling on it was an easy way to separate it. You can also pull from the inside near the window of the mirror along the seam to separate.

It should look like this

If you have a buddy, you can have them assist you by holding the cover of the mirror, or if you're doing it by yourself like I was, you can just rest it on the mirror itself like this

This bulb is the parking light. To remove it you'll rotate it counterclockwise

Here is the socket for the new LED board:

Insert the LED board into the socket:

Before you insert it back into the housing, I'd recommend testing to make sure the polarity is right. Just lock your car and unlock it and then leds should light up. If they don't you just need to rotate it 180*. Then put it back into the housing with the leds facing down. Rotate it clockwise to lock it in.

Put the cover back on the mirror.

Finished product:

These suckers are bright, and my mom loves it!

Great instructions. This detailed write-up makes our life easier.

Btw, you may consider to wash your car when they're all done.

Will wash it sometime soon, modding on this car is complete now. Mudguards and LED parking lights installed, nothing more in the future. And best of all, mom loves everything!

Some people have put the led boards with the wire on it there. Nigel sells pretty bright boards. V-Leds sells some too, but I'm not too familiar with those on which is brighter/able to fit in the housing.

I ordered with the same LEDs you did for the parking lights and puddles.

i did this mod the other day, and at night it locks hooooot....

putting the mirror back on one of my sides was a bit tricky, not sure why, it just wouldn't align right, took me a good 20 mins. the first side i did just clicked right in.

must do for all rx's

i also got the same type of led's off ebay for a good price, and they are definately bright enough
