Default Alternative iPod USB input for 2010 models from VAIS Technology

VML-L2 is now compatible with 2010 Lexus models. VML-L2 is an iPod USB
input which gets installed instead of the factory USB unit.

Main differences are:

*Faster operation and browsing

*Disabled annoying auto select feature

*Easy update process without any additional equipment, firmware is
located on our secured ftp site and is available 24/7. We keep VML
up to date to all new Apple releases.

*Digital Sound Quality

*A lot faster usb flash drive or external HDD operation

*Optional internal HDD

VML-L2 is plugged in instead of the factory USB unit. On the RX model
factory USB in located on the back of the middle console and can be
accessed very easily by removing one panel.

To me it doesnt seem like a lot of advantages/additional features for $400+ bucks!

Just my 2 cents!

How is this any better than plugging in a USB flash drive, or for that matter, an iPod?

I am talking about the one with the hard drive. Is that $274?

I'd say for these three reasons it might be worth it:

*Disabled annoying auto select feature
*Easy update process without any additional equipment, firmware is
located on our secured ftp site and is available 24/7. We keep VML
up to date to all new Apple releases.
*Optional internal HDD

I had the Soundlinq in my '04 and loved it. Vais support is great. I might take a look. Thanks!

Not worth the cost.

How about a modal for AUX input, TV tuner, PS3, or Xbox or something?

They already have this .. its called the SL2Vu

I have the Soundlinq in my GS350, and I love it. I ordered my SoundLinq without the hard drive, and installed my own PATA 2.5" hard drive myself, with a 160GB capacity (cheaper than ordering from vaistech with the hard drive, plus 80GB was the largest they offered. While loading music onto the hard drive is a bit tedious at first, once you get the process down, it is a piece of cake.... plus if you transfer music onto the hard drive from your PC before you install into the SoundLinq, the unit will immediately recognize the pre-installed music, and save you tons of time.
This unit works MUCH MUCH faster than the factory USB port, and sound quality is on par with the factory USB input.

I just saw that they released a universal audio/video input device (SL2Vu), which is about half the price of the competition, and judging from the SoundLinq, is probably better than the competition if not on par!

I will be ordering the SL2Vu for my GS shortly, so I'll report back on the quality and ease of use on this product once I install within the next month or so.

According to the Application Guide on their website, it appears that the 2010 RX is NOT compatible. I was thinking about ordering for my GS, however once I call to confirm compatibility, I might get two, and throw one in the RX ... since that is probably what would be driven on long trips requiring DVD entertainment ... my luck it's not compatible ... story of my life!

Default Install issues

It sounds like this part of the install prep could be pretty scary. I'd hate to deploy the air bags. That would cost thousands to fix.
BEFORE WIRING, DISCONNECT THE CABLE FROM THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Before starting any installation work , you must wait 90 seconds after turning the ignition switch to the LOCK position and disconnecting the negative (-) terminal
from the battery. The supplemental restraint system (airbag) is equipped with a backup power source. If installation work is started less 90 seconds after
disconnection of the negative (-)battery terminal, the SRS may deploy. When the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery the clock and audio
systems memory will be erased. Before starting installation work make a record of the clock and audio systems memory settings. When installation is complete,
reset the clock and audio systems to their previous settings . Power tilt, power telescopic steering column, front power seats, power mirrors, and power shoulder
belt anchorage are equipped with a memory function .The rear power seat is not equipped with a memory function. e and they can make a record of the memory
contents, rear power seat is not equipped with the memory function. When installation is complete, it is necessary to readjust the features to their previous settings
Never use a backup power supply (such as another battery) during installation work to avoid losing these memory settings.

SL2Vu is not compatible with 2010 Lexus models, but we are working on the solution for you guys. Our new device will be able to play video from the HDD, flash drive, iPod and from universal audio/video using simple RCA connections.
