Default Spare Tire

Does the 2010 RX350 have a full size spare tire and rim?

My 2010 RX350 AWD had the donut, but I guess you can ask the dealer to ad full size spare as a dealer add on option.

We have had our's for several months now. It's just never here for me to check on the spare. I finally gave up and posted my question. Thanks.

Its not a full size spare. I heard that the earlier models have full size spare.

Yup, 1st and 2nd gen RXs have the full spare. I'm not sure why Lexus went with a donut spare on the 3rd gen

Well, the 1st gen spare is inside the cargo area under the floor, the 2nd gen spare is under the vehicle and releases from inside. They could have done the same on the 3rd gen without losing the cargo space underneath. Cost savings? Sadly yes. I just hope I won't need to use the donut

The dealers will tell you the donut accounts for some of the extra cargo space. If you buy off on that, then why do some of the European models have the same amount of space + a full size spare ???

Oh well, I never needed the spare anyway (knock on wood). And our models cost us about half what theirs cost so ....

After having to use the spare on my 2006 RX400h, I'm glad to have the "donut" inside the car. Dropping the spare on a wet muddy road wasn't fun and putting the flat tire back in the same space was even less fun. For it's purpose, I like the current RX spare arrangement.

Well we've got the Lexus 'courtesy call' till the warranty runs out. If that doesn't cover it or after that, then my good ole USAA insurance Company

The donut seems like a really cheesy thing to do on a $40K+ vehicle. This has the potential to turn a 30 minute inconvenience into a lost day of vacation. However, I do have a question: would a full sized tire fit into the donut space? If not...then what are you supposed to do with the flat tire, after installing the donut?

The flat tire sits in the back until you bring it to the garage to be repaired. Why would you want to bury the 'dead' tire underneath everything only to have to dig it out for the fix?

The opposite question would be "why would you want to put a dirty dead tire among all the clean stuff in your trunk?" And if the trunk is already full, I suppose you end up moving stuff from the trunk to the donut tire storage area.

There are places where I don't want to drive 50-55 mph with the donut spare on the ground. Example: I-10 from LA to Vegas.

The donut tire is fine for folks who never leave town, and never will have to change their own tire. For anyone else, it can be a huge annoyance.

Anyway, some afternoon, I'll pull out the floor jack, take off the tire and see how well it fits in the donut space. Then I'll report back.
