I have Lx 570 2017 and I am very disappointed about opening the lift gate manually
i used to have Armada and it will open automatically

The operation is 2 step
1. Release -- may have to unlock, but the holding mechanism has to let go of the hatch.
2. Lift -- once released, a way to open it fully.

1 & 2 are built into the remote-keyFOB

If you release by putting a hand on the release lever/button a very gentle force is needed to lift the hatch up [hopefully it is balanced].

Granted an improvement can be done by combining 1 & 2 by another means ... like toe operated sensor ... no hands are needed.

My 2011 RX350 had to be programmed with a dealer type computer to open the rear door automaticall by pushing the button under the chrome bar. It is a dealer programmable option.

My 2011 RX350 has two buttons on the liftgate. The left button opens the liftgaate AND unlocks all doors. The right button locks all doors.

Default Rear Lift Gate Button

2011 Lexus RX350 - when pressing rear lift gate button manually, will rear hatch raise on its own. With keyfob does raise automatically.

No. It is expected that the person who releases the rear-hatch is too close in proximity.

It can be customized to power lift the tailgate when manually pressing on the pad on the tailgate (and obviously stepping backwards away from the car).

See this document for full details of this customization and others: http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/RX350_LPS.pdf

I was told that the 2011 RX350 lift gate button would NOT automatically open the lift gate, but when I first bought the car, I KNOW it worked. The Lexus technician told me that it only automatically opened on newer models. Thanks for proving me right. Now HOW do I get this reprogrammed to automatically open again by pressing the lift gate button?

Somewhat related, if everything is locked and you walk up to the lift gate with the key in your pocket and push the lift gate button, are the doors or atleast the lift gate suppose to unlock? I don't believe mine does and always thought it should.

Default Lift Gate - Confirmation

Tdott - I have not tried that yet, but on another note, I DID confirm that the 2011 RX350 lift gate button right above the license plate (when pressed) IS supposed to automatically raise the lift gate. I took my Lexus to the dealership and they reprogrammed it so that the lift gate now opens automatically by pressing the lift gate button above the license plate.

Could be a customization, since mine doesn't raise the lift automatically, it operates manually when using the latch above the license plate. Only works automatically when the remote button or button inside is pushed.

FYI, I need to replace my struts, so I contacted my Lexus parts department ($269.58 per side) and decided to see if I could get the parts at a lower price elsewhere. They gave me these part numbers which I thought I'd share ...
