Default anyone have their ECO light disabled

manual says the dealer can do it

asked that it be disabled on my 1k mile service

tech was unable to figure out how, said he'd call lexus & get back w/ me

haven't heard back

just curious if anyone has successfully disabled this on a 2010 rx350

from best i can tell, it's just a throttle position sensor that goes off if you press the gas too much

doesn't seem useful & light blinking on/off @ lights is annoying

It is user-customizable:

Settings that can be changed using the multi-information switches.

Customization section, page 618.

just put a piece of black electrical tape over the light (cheap solution), or take the dash apart and pull the led/bulb (more time consuming solution).

Well, no wonder you never called me back. I left you a message with the answer to your question about disabling the Eco Light

But really, did you follow the steps in the manual? I remember clearly seeing the directions for how to disable the light. Did you miss the directions or did you actually try what was written and not get the desired result?

Since it's my wife's car I won't get to play with it until this weekend but I'm curious now.

Please let us know.

Thanks!

Jay

hold the menu button down while in park for a few seconds (the one on your steering wheel), use the thumb switch to scroll down to the eco light option, select off

Another case solved!

I thought that was fairly apparent from the manual and I was happy that you didn't try it and have it not work. I was worried the manual was wrong!

For some reason that Eco light reminds me of something gimmicky from the 70's when oil was priced pretty high as well. Kind dumb if you ask me but for some reason I'm not sure we'll be turning it off. It'll probably have to get a bit more annoying when I drive my wife's car more to really get me motivated to turn it off.

Cheers!

Jay

dealer finally called me back on eco light issue

said the had someone in on monday from lexus hq & were told the light could not be disabled

told him i'd resolved issue w/ help of clublexus, said he guessed his guys needed retraining

the manual states this is a customizable feature, you'd think these guys would have a better understanding of their own technology

For guys that work with the car from day to day it sometimes amazes me what the Lexus service/sales people don't know! I hate it worse when they "guess" at an answer and give you a snow job.

Did you tell your dealer the third gen RX folks on Club Lexus would provide training for a fee

I swear Lexus is getting too proprietary for their own good.
