Frontal Driver Rating: 5 Stars
Frontal Passenger Rating: 5 Stars
Side Driver Rating: 5 Stars
Side Rear Passenger Rating: 5 Stars
Rollover 2WD Rating: 4 Stars
Rollover AWD Rating: 4 Stars

*rollover rating is not based on crash worthiness, but on % chance of rollover at 17% for fwd and 16% for awd

to compare with rollover, the ML is at 17% and the X5 is at 17% so the RX is still ahead of the class

Now we need IIHS results. NHTSA is not necessarily representative of real world impacts, so take it with a grain of salt.

One of the selling points for us was the RX having both driver and passenger knee bags.

IIHS named the RX a top safety pick for 2009

Frontal Offset: Good
Side: Good
Rear: Good

This is the first lexus to get a good rating for all three categories because in the past, lexus cars didnt fair well in rear crash protection due to lack of active head restraints.

Ahhhh, another reason to go for the 2010 than the 2009. That makes me feel much better, despite the higher price tag.
