Thanks for that info. G Man. I will probably just leave it alone until someone figures out a way. I don't really want to crack or scratch anything on my RX.

Tigerr,

I want to do what you did. Where did you find the info to remove the existing lights or how did you do it?

Plus where did you buy the lights? Any luck with the mirrors yet?

Btmnk21,

I used a small plastic spatula to pry open the lens. I also used a small flat head screwdriver but I was very meticulous not to scratch it.

Pls. see post #6 for info. where I bought the LEDs. As far as the mirros, no luck and I've been busy to even tinker with it.

Disclosure: Do this mod at your own risk as I am not a certified Lexus technician and the above statement is what I did and not a tutorial.

If you want to change the mirror bulbs, you will need to remove the glass mirror first, pop it out from lower then upper. Then remove 4 screws. 4 claws holding the mirror cover, remover the cover, then you will be able to change the bulb. Be careful not to break the glass. Hope this helps.

Got these info from a Lexus tech, so do it at you own risk.

Tiggerr

I have the bulbs to start some of my conversions. The one I am most fearful of is the puddle lamp. Did you do it by pulling the mirror and going in that way? If so, was it easy and any tips on pulling the mirror. The mods look great, thanks for posting.

MEP7557: I followed the link that Joeb427 posted. It's fairly easy. Tip: be patient, don't rush it, finesse around the covers when popping it off. It took me under 10 mins. to do both.

Thanks, I got brave and went for it yesterday. Piece of cake. It's amazing how all the pieces to this car are 'snap and play'. I did note that I only needed to remove 4 screws not 5.

The LED puddle lights look great. I did the running lights in blue to give it a little character. I will be doing the lights at the bottom of the doors with white LED and I am done. The outside will be LED and the inside incandescent. I am doing the ones at the bottom of the doors because I have the illuminated door sills and they, the lights in the door, shut off when the doors are closed. I do like the warmer glow of the stock bulbs for the interior, especially with the Parchment interior.

I will try and post pics.

Thanks again.

OK Here are the pics. The running lights are actually a little bluer in person. I do like them better than the yellow. The fog lights have been changed to 6000K halogen, good match with the headlights.

This is the before of the door lights. They have not arrived yet. Puddle lights are done but since others have posted pics, no need. Will post when I do the final step.

With the LED running lights you can change your mood or adjust for the holiday at hand, they have red, green, purple and hopefully orange for Halloween.Side mirror courtesy lamp...-lexus-002.jpg

Here are the door lights done. Now they match the door sills. If you notice on one pic you can see the puddle light shining more light on the outer side of the door. The door lights maybe could be brighter but, they do work. They are the same type bulb.
