Navigation DVD Replacement
I need to replace my old Navigation DVD with my new one. Does anyone know where to find the DVD for the navigation system in the RX330? Do you know how to get to it? Bobby Rahal Lexus in Mechanicsburg PA has no idea.
Thanks!!!!!!

Here's what one forum member wrote:
If you open up the tool bay for the tire changing stuff, it's diagonally mounted in the right corner near the rear of the vehicle. There's a little plastic door that pops open and then you'll have easy access to the Nav DVD unit.

I just upgraded my old DVD disk ver.1 to ver.03.1. The DVD player in my 2001 RX300 is a black box located to the right side of the jack in the spare tire well. I had to remove the jack to access the DVD player. Only the side of the DVD player is visible when the jack is removed.
The DVD player has a slide switch marked "open" and a slot for the DVD disk. When the open switch is slid to the right, an eject symbol is revealed behind it. The eject symbol looks like a triangle symbol /\ something like the eject button on a home DVD player. I'm not sure if the the eject symbol is acutally an active button or just a passive symbol.
When I slid the open switch the first time, the DVD disk ejected within about 30 seconds (with power on). When I did the same thing today to insert the new DVD disk, nothing seemed to happen. I tried pressing the eject symbol, and the DVD disk ejected. So, I think that the symbol may actually be an active button (sorry about the uncertainty, it was rainy and dark and I was in a parking garage with poor lighting. I was lucky to be able to see or find the DVD player at all).
The part number of the new DVD disk is 00230-DVD03-CY. It cost $250.00 plus tax.
Best regards,
- Bob

Hi Bob, this disk: DVD disk is 00230-DVD03-CY is this the disk that provides the navigation information???
Yes. The DVD disk (part no. 00230-DVD03-CY) provides navigation information when placed in the nav DVD player unit. It will also update the nav ecu software to the most current version. Make sure you don't turn the power off while the DVD is updating the nav ecu software.

Does new 210 Extension show up in Version 3.1?
Hi,
Just wondering if someone with the 3.1 version of the navigation DVD can tell me whether the new 210 Freeway extension in Southern California (from north of La Verne to north of Rancho Cucamonga) shows up. I'm considering an upgrade and this will help in my decision. Thanks very much!

I'm also interested in knowing if the 330 navigation update helps with all the new construction from the Big Dig in Boston. In a recent ride, the system was going crazy trying to find out where I was driving!!

Did you just have to put the new DVD in for it to upgrade?
I have a 2001 RX and just got the newest nav DVD (oct 2003). I popped it in and got this error:
DVD read error
Check disk
Anyone run into this problem?
Thanks,
B

Questions about using the 00230-DVD03-CY DVD-ROM:
- After updating, what screens changed?
- I also heard that the Oct 2003 Nav discs were defective, do you know when your disc was produced?
