Reliability of "new" VVTi oil line hose
Hi!
Has anyone that had their VVTi hose replaced by Lexus "Limited Service Campaign 9LH" had any leaks or other problems with the "new" hose the dealer installed? Under this campaign the dealer is instructed to install a replacement hose in the rear VVTi oil line (VVT line #2). This is done instead of replacing the old line with the newer all-metal oil pipe, which should be more reliable and not prone to leaking. My 2007 RX350 had the new hose installed in 2013 under that Campaign, and I am wondering how reliable that "fix" really is, or whether I should install an all-metal line myself.
Appreciate any input!!
Nick

If i remember correctly, there was another thread somewhere that people got an updated non metal line early on during the recall, but no issues have been reported, as the non-metal part was an update as well.

Question
Thanks Evident!
Do you happen to know if earlier executions of that partial recall just replaced the rubber hose in the rear VVT oil line with an updated rubber hose, but later they started replacing the whole line with an all-metal one?? The only info I found is for replacing the rubber hose only.
Thanks again! Nick

My wife's 08 RX350 pipe was replaced in January of 2010 at 31K miles. Now at 110K miles with no issue.
My 08 Avalon was replaced around the same time at ~50K miles. Now at 105K miles with no issue.

Our '07 had the vvti recall in 2010. Years later, around 90k miles I noticed a slight oil leak. Dealer said it was a vvti hose and they replaced it under my extended warranty. I do not know if there is more than one vvti hose, therefore I don't know if the leaking one was the recall replacement.

Thanks for those replies...... helpful information and I appreciate it!
LEXSC4 - Do you happen to know if all they did on those two cars was to replace the rubber VVTi hoses with updated hoses (as opposed to installing all-metal lines)?
Since the all-metal line is a factory part (p/n 15772-31030), I assume they started using those in place of the lines with rubber hose in the middle at some point... don't know when, and don't know if it was new-production only, or on upgrades too.
BTW, Service Campaign 9LH has been extended now to end in 2021 I believe, instead of 2013 as originally planned.
