Default How do I remove under carpet padding?

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2004 RX330 and last night my wife left the front passenger window down and it rained! Now the front and rear passenger carpet are wet. How do I lift the carpet so that I can pull out the padding underneath to dry them out? Thanks in advance.

Of course you need to remove the scuff plates, kick panels and the seats. When i wired my aftermarket stereo, I also wanted to remove the carpet but I could not because the carpet is clipped/stapled to plastic mounts which are firmly locked into the body. I was afraid that I will damage those so I could not get the carpet off. Haven't seen a step-by-step guide on this site on how to remove the carpets but if i find it, i'll post it.

I found this post by Draco on how to remove the carpet. Very helpful.

I ended up removing just the front and rear pasenger seats since teh driver side was dry. It was not that bad and I am not that good with DIY. I found the hardest part was the rear seat. You definitely will need a long extension for the rachet. The carpet is definitely harder to remove than my 2007 GS350.

How did you remove the clips that keep the carpet tagged to the floor? Were you able to put them back in afterwards?

I just break the staples that were holding the carpet to the clip since they were rusted. When I re-install the carpet I re-stapled the carpet back using my plier type stapler.
