Just for reference, top of the line Ultra Premium Package in Canada, with ML & everything ,except multi-panel moonroof and Sports Package, is listed at Cad$63,725.00, including Freight & PDI, but before taxes.
At today's exchange rate of 0.7100, that's equivalent to US$45,244.75.
But with 7% PST, 7% GST and 3% luxury tax (totai 17 %), it becomes US$52,936.36
Base Package - Before taxes Canadian$51,435.00 including Freight and PDI, base sound system, with no moonroof, no Nav, no rain-sensing wipers, no wood steering wheels and shift ****, no bird's eye maple trim, no HID, no power back door, no roof rack
Sports Package - Cad $ 57,715.00
Note that the Canadian currency has risen approx. 11% against the U.S $ since beginning of this year.

It's true. Any car over $47,000 CDN list price gets hit with an extra 3% tax. And whether or not it's in effect is based on the MSRP, not on the balance less the trade-in. Got slapped with it on my 330 recently...

Luxury tax? Where did you get that number? It must be buried in the MSRP - I have never heard of a luxury tax in Canada. (or am I missing somethig?)

That is specific to B.C. I just did a build scenario, on the lexus.ca site, for B.C. and the tax you are referring to is bundled in the "social services tax allocation" in the breakdown. Your PST must be 7% as the social services tax shows a 10% figure. We (Ontario) have a 8% PST but no additional "luxury tax".
