Default Airbag Manufacturer?

Short question:
Who makes the airbags in a 2006 RX400h (especially driver and passenger face)?

Longer background:
We recently purchased our in-laws 2006 RX400h. They lived in Houston/Galveston so the Takata airbag in a significant concern, since the car lived in a bad environment for that.

I consider all of the Takata airbags to be fundamentally flawed due to the ammonuium nitrate. If the car has them, I'd want to get them replaced ASAP.

I can't figure out who actually makes them though.

I don't think the Lexus RX400h is affected by the Takata airbag recalls ...

The recall list is, unfortunately, wholly incomplete.

Unfortunately, Takata has not recalled ALL ammonium nitrate based airbag modules. They're insisting that it's a limited problem to a few faulty modules, despite ample evidence that the use of ammonium nitrate is the main cause.
Here's an example from last week: http://blog.caranddriver.com/senator...onium-nitrate/

Considering my current Lexus is right in the middle of the potentially suspect range and has lived in a high humidity environment, I'd rather not wait until Takata is forced to recall all the modules (it will happen).

Contact Lexus Customer Service at 800-255-3987 with your question.

My suspicion is that all Lexus models have Takata airbags and use ammonium nitrate for the propellant. It would seem unlikely, but not impossible, that Lexus would use a different module for their vehicles than are used by Toyota vehicles. I have no definitive info to support my opinion but it would seem reasonable to believe this is the case.

IMO, those living in especially high humidity areas, like Florida, should be concerned, and ask for clarification. I'd suggest this should probably be done in writing to provide a paper trail of the concern in case of an injury or death that is attributed to the faulty airbag.

Or suggest that you sign up on the Lexus Owner's website and your VIN will be required. You will be notified of any recalls pertaining to your VIN.

Good luck. Beats doing the research.
