Default Rx400h High beam headlight change

Can anyone help me with this... i did see many post regarding headlamp replacement but not quite what i was looking for.

My drivers side headlamp lamp went out but there was no maintenance light on dash. Brought repair Zenon bulb, but eventually had to service my car at Lexus. They quoted me ~$1900.00 to repair the headlamp (3RD FLR) and light connector (CON 1C12A). I asked about the heavy condensation and the class action lawsuit against lexus. The service guy was nice enough to say that there was a letter/warranty that went out to owners and they would repair the problem if heavy condensation occurred before October 31, 2015. Well, i didn't get a second letter informing my to replace the part - something was whacky so now the replacement.

in any case has anyone replaced the headlamp (entire) and the connector for less money? Has anyone replaced the headlamp with a different lamp and/or part (i.e. from Toyota). Does anyone have good suggestions. A $1900.00 bill for a headlamp seems pretty pricey...

Generally speaking (i.e. not specific to the RX 400h), depends on the headlight. They can get pricey but that does sound high. As with anything get second opinions. Get quotes from other shops including reputable independents.

Primary coverage was through 10/31/2015. Secondary is for 9 years from date of first use. I have no idea what the difference is between primary and secondary coverage.

I read that as ensuring all cars got at least 9 years coverage. For example, a 2004 would be covered until Oct 2015 or 12 years for one purchased in 2003! While a 2009 would receive the 9 years coverage.

Default Headlamp

Dear Sir.

Xenon head light usually don't go bad. Your light may have a wire issue or small problem. Your lexus have a factory recall because the headlights rubber can get water in. Call 800 number and find out. If that is the issue they will change it for free. If not you can do the few things...
1. get a new headlight for eBay. way cheaper
2. get aftermarket headlight you can get xenon one or you can get a regular for 350 not for 400h. it will be $100 and just get a sylviana head bulb. (what ever its called).
3. take off your headlight and try to find what is the issue. if you wanna take it off you need to put it in a avon for 25 min on 250 - 300F temperature . good luck
