Cargo Cover Issue 2008 RX350 - Won't Stay Closed
Good evening everyone,
Hopefully I have posted this to the correct place. It's my first time on. I just purchased my first Lexus (very exciting!)
But one puzzling issue I've noticed and not sure what the problem is, if it's me or my vehicle. The back cargo cover wont' stay closed. It keeps popping out/up and opening. Quite annoying already and I only had it a few days. Subsequently, it's not hiding a thing in the back. Not sure why or what to do as I've never had this issue previously with my SUV's. Help would be welcome - Thank you.

Removed ours the first week and stowed it underneath the floor. I do recall it was designed to automatically retract when the rear hatch opened. Maybe check that linkage at the sides of the door opening.
Edit:
Just looked at the release linkages on the sides of the door opening...it appears if you press them in, you can set it to not retract when the door opens, you have to do this to both sides. I expect if one side is set in lock position and the other is set in auto-retract position the cover will get crooked and probably slide open randomly when you hit bumps, etc.

I have a different year and model but on mine there is a latch, release, not sure what to call it, on each side. I slide that toward me when the cover is pulled toward the rear and it keeps the cover from retracting until I release that latch.

This. See also page 294.

As stated above, the "*****" are on both sides.
If it's opening at other times then there's some other issue.
