Default AC/Heater makes "dust" smell

So my AC has been making a smell that smells like dust. I searched the forum and found threads about mold, but this isn't a mold smell (or at least what I think mold smells like). I thought it was because I was using charcoal cabin filters but I just bought a new plain filter and I get the same smell. The smell usually happens when I first turn on the car and then goes away after 10 minutes or so and the smell almost always happens when I go through the carwash.

Any ideas???

Dust doesn't really help as the smell of dust depends on the dust. If you don't have any other way to describe it what sort of dust does it smell like? Can you get someone else to describe the smell?

If you mean dusty as in musty then it might very well be mold or mildew. I'd start by checking the drain for the evaporator to make sure that water isn't backing up and spilling over onto your interior carped and pad.

I'd also consider having the dealer clean the evaporator. You can also do this at home. Here is a link on cleaning a Camry evaporator that should get you sarted.
