Airbag lights comes on intermittently
Hello,
My parents have a 2007 RX350 and they had the airbag light come on once in a while. I have the car right now so I could figure out the issue for them and get it fixed.
The light wouldn't come on for the first couple days and it off today for a while until I move the seat fully backward and then forward. After I restarted the vehicle the light came on.
I got to work and tried tightening all connectors under the seat and the light did go off and stay off but I didn't drive it after that.
When the light is on it blinks in the 1-second on / 1-second off pattern. When my dad's friend-mechanic checked it out, he said that the description of the code he could read was something like "open [squib] circuit connector", unfortunately, he can't remember.
I know that SRS is not to be joked around with but what would you guys suggest? A Lexus dealer in our area wants $124 just to get it checked out and then probably thousands of dollars to get it fixed.
Any info, thoughts, help, opinions will be appreciated. Thank you!

To bad The DTC wasn't written down. Looking at the service manual there are 90 different diagnostic trouble codes for the air bag system. If you scan for codes again, I can provide the information on it from the manual.
That said the SRS is one of those systems best repaired by experts. If you do decide to work on it yourself be sure to have the negative disconnected from the battery for a minimum of 90 seconds before proceeding.

I was waiting to get the code before replying but it has never come up again, the only thing I did was tighten the connectors under the driver's seat, especially the yellow one.
Thank you for the warning to disconnect battery and wait!

There is a bulletin for DTC B0111/B0116 -
OPEN SIDE SQUIB CIRCUIT - if this is the case, you need a new airbag on that side. The condition is intermittant. Wait for the codes to appear again and either 1) read the codes at a parts store that has a reader capable of talking to the SRS, or 2) pay a dealer or Toyota specialist diagnostic time to read the code and diagnose it for you.
I charge $109 for diagnostic, $124 isn't that bad. Good luck!
