When the HID lights are on, should the running lights be on?
Running lights appear to operate normally without head lights. When I turn on headlights only the driver running light is on.

The running lights don't operate when the headlights are on. When the headlights turn on the running lights turn off and the parking lights come on. One of your parking lights is burnt out. Look in your owners manual, there is a diagram, there are two bulbs in the inner reflector on each head light.

Thank you! I didn't get a manual with the car and the Lexus web site has been horrible to find what I need. How did you do that screen shot? You have an electronic copy I can buy?
The reason I found the issue is bc only the headlights are HID and no other lights are not. So I thought I would try to determine the types of bulbs for each.
So after reading ur post I worked with the lights last night. During the day, #1 always on. At night #4 on and #1 are on together. However, only driver side is on and when I put on high beams, both #1s are on. Either way it looks annoying bc #1 and #6 are not HID. Should they be?

I agree...the online manual isn't easy to navigate. But sounds like rain bird has a solution to the manual problem. For the screen shot I always have to google how to take one. It takes a few keystrokes and I always forget the combination. LOL.
So onto the lights. The only HID bulbs are the low beams. The Highbeams are halogen and the rest of the bulbs are incandescent. During the day, the #5 bulbs are actually what is on. The running lights are the highbeam bulbs at 50% intensity. When you turn on the headlights, the #5 bulbs turn off and the #1 bulbs turn on. These are just little incandescent bulbs. If you don't like the way they look with the HIDs you can remove them all together or replace them with some white LED bulbs. The #6 bulbs are the fog lights...They are supposed to be halogen. A lot of people will get an aftermarket HID set to replace them with. I personally leave my fog lights off unless needed. I also left my fog lights with the halogen bulbs because the light that the halogen bulb emits is actually better in rain and fog than the light the HID emits.
Hopefully some of that made sense. Haha

Regarding manuals, you can also go to the Lexus Drivers website (link below) to view whatever you want online in .pdf format (and print if desired). On the home page, hover over the "My Lexus" tab at top then select "Manuals & Resources". On that page, just enter the pertinent information then click search and you should get links to every document related to your search criteria. Don't know if you have to register or not for access but give it a shot.

Thanks all. I think I have the Lexus web site figured out using specific phrases. Is there a way to jump to a page#? TOC are easy to find but some of the topics are not so easy Thx again! Getting to really love this car more and more as I read this forum.
