Default 08 RX350 AWD Transfer Case and Rear Differetial fluid change

Hi guys,

Looking to do a drain and refill again on my 08 RX350 AWD transmission fluid again this coming months. I think the transmission fluid Drain and Refill should take care of the Front Differential.

My question is, should I have my mechanic drain and refill the Front Transfer cast and Rear Differential Fluid while he is working on the car.

The RX has 90K miles on it now. The Transmission fluid was just drained and refilled 12K miles ago.

Thx.

just did a t-tech flush of the tranny, transfer case and rear diff. Since I live in Minnesota I used Amzoil. This is the 3rd time my tranny has been changed in 83,000 miles. only this time with the t-tech flush the whole tranny including the torque converter is clean.

I was going to do this service myself...But I looked up the fluid change procedure in the service manual and if you have the tow package you have to put the car into "2WD Inspection Mode" (even if your car is 4WD) plus I couldn't get a specific answer on the type of fluid you are supposed to use. The manual says " World Standard" for the tranny and the rear differential but the dealership says that they use two different fluids. Plus, I have read too many horror stories of a tranny fluid change going bad and the tranny failing. So ultimately, I decided to have the dealership do my fluid change. It costs 300 dollars to have the tranny and the rear differential changed. I also have a 50 dollar coupon...So 250 total. And at least if something goes wrong, I can blame it on the dealership. I have the service scheduled for Wednesday (9/17/14). After that change, my car will be all ready for towing a trailer cross country for my move back to Arizona.

Base on my understanding, the transmission fluid drain and refill should take care of front differential at the same time. The fluid type is WS for my 08 AWD. For the transfer Case and rear differential, I will use Mobil 1 75W-90.

Last time I supplied the WS fluid (4 quarts) and my mechanic charge $60 labor.
